Here's my rating system (I would've like to do a bell curve but that would take too much effort):

10 - Sacred - These are absolutely amazing. If I gave something a 10 it got Best of [Insert Subject Here]. Just because I gave it a 10 doesn't mean you'll even like it, but I would recommend you to at least try it nonetheless.
9 - Damn good - After finishing a show with a 9 you just feel awesome for the rest of the day, probably even the whole week. It probably gives you lots of things to ponder about.
8 - Awesome - These shows are solid. Many of them excel in an area but are lacking in other ways. Starting at 8 (as well as 9 and 10, maybe a little in 7) you feel the emotions that are intended.
7 - Pretty good - These shows are averagely fun to watch. When I watch these I just have a good time.
6 - Entertaining - I get some entertainment from these but often wonder why I am watching it and not doing something else. Some element of these really nags me. I might as well go browse youtube or facebook and get the same fun out of the average scenes of this show.
5 - Boring - I have to concentrate to be able to concentrate on these. Generally very shallow or has too many wierd moments.
4 - I'm really losing interest - If something was this low rated it wasn't a full series because I would definitely drop it after an episode or two. If it was a special, OVA, ONA, or movie I was cringing through the majority of it.
3 - Straight up bad - It would be hard to find someone that gave a good rating to this.
2 - How did this get through production? - This is seriously bad. I wonder how this got approved by everyone in a production team.
1 - This should be removed from existence - It's harder to get a 1 than it is to get a 10, even if you search for them. Nearly all shows that get a 1 aren't actually that bad because they get a good laugh out of you. In order to truly get a 1 it has to be so bad it's not even funny (in a literal sense).

These are only guidelines of course. Things can break these rules. Anime is dynamic.
