One of my main interests is people, and it has been so for years. I always want to know more and more. Why do people do the things that they do daily, or in certain situations? I have to comprehend and understand it all. How much sense everything makes when it's put together, is this person stable, should they be stable or should they be acting differently?
I believe that every action one does is in their own self interests or perceived self interests. If one was not to act when a "friend" needs them, then a strain can be placed on their relationship because the one suffering "needs" or "wants" assistance. You delude yourself into thinking that your actions or reactions are for their benefit, when really you are doing it for yourself. It's because you want something they can give you, tangible or not. And if it's not, then it is their company that you desire, or to see someone smiling because you made them smile. Everything one does is ultimately for themselves.

I read your psychological bit about the motivation of human behavior on your profile and found it rather intriguing. I am no psychologist myself, so can't cite the names of theories or their respective theorists.
So what you are basically saying is that "true" altruistic behavior does not exist; one acts selflessly in order to gain some indirect benefit, such as investment towards future relationships or even the mere status as being seen as an altruist by society.
But then let me ask you this: what about those who sacrifice their lives for the sake of others. Can the human mind really accept reaping benefits that would only come into effect after death?
Nothin' wrong with that! Keep it up. I really need to be writing . . . . not about anime . . . and I'm not.
