Maybe I'm looking too deep into it, but my theory stands. As of late, for some strange reason, the Japanese seem to have grown far more open to revisionist views of WW2. There was a rise in jingoistic militarism, holocaust and Japanese war crimes denial, whitewashing of Japanese aggression during the war, pinning blames on western powers, etc.
This is certainly not new; Japan never went through 'denazification' like Germany did. However, with Shinzo Abe as prime minister, all these ideas got media attention, and as such, began to grow among certain Japanese circles. The anime Gate: Jieitai Kanochi Nite Kaku Tatakaeri is the most blatant example so far.
My point is, I wonder if the whole toning down the nazis in this series is because of legitimate "we want no nazis", or because they're trying to make Japan's former allies as "not that bad". And while you could argue that the Germanians are undoubtedly evil, they're only evil because plot. And they're a far cry from nazis.
Regarding your review on Izetta: Not The Last Crappy WW2 Anime We'll See, I'd argue that the Germanians are not actually nazis. Yes, they have this fascist vibe to them, but they're far, far from being true nazis. I won't rewrite everything I put on my review, but you'll see my points there. In short, there is no "Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer", there's no holocaust, they're evil for the sake of being evil, and they're the among the most incompetent military powers I've ever seen. That's not very nazi of them.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Izetta is another shitty attempt at whitewashing WW2, motivated by Japan's current 'revisionist' ideas of the war, and their former allies.
That Haitai Nanafa review of yours was by far the greatest review I've ever seen in my life. The immense amount of detail, the overwhelming passion infused into each word, the observations of how the show functions on a spiritual level, the razor-sharp sense of humor, and the degree of maturity and experience you display in your writing is only the beginning of an unforgettable journey to become the number one reviewer in MAL history.
ZephSilver, Stark700, and Archaeon, all of you better watch your back because this guy already outclasses all of you amateurs.
