Hey, I'm Luke and if you really wanna know I'm just a casual weeb.
I really enjoy watching romance and tragedy, the mixture of which really wounds my soul in such a lovely manner, so if an anime has those shining virtues feel free to recommend it to me. However I've never deflected any comedy or action related shows since they're a nice change of pace as a juxtaposition to the depression I experience watching drama.
Let's get right into it shall we?
Koe no Katachi - The Visage of Voice
I'm at a loss of words.
Shigatsu wa kimi no uso - Your Lie in April
The crowning jewel of my ever growing repertoire is without a doubt Your Lie in April. With its astonishing art, beautiful music and a soul crushing story it strides a step ahead of all others. Never have the feels been this ''feelzy'' :c
Spice&Wolf
Let me just say, that this is a show that doesn't need situational comedy nor ridiculous action scenes to be entertaining... it manages to be a beautiful piece with merely verbal dialogues... and those dialogues are to say the least, amazing. Also, best romance so far. Heartwarming <3
Kimi no Na Wa
Surpassing all expectations and mercilessly blowing away all competition, Your Name is the trademark of 2016. It's safe to say that it's my favorite movie across all platforms. Be it the stunning art or the silver line of story telling, Shinkai Makoto's work has nestled itself in my heart.
(Yeah Luuk, this show was great so fuck you).
Angel Beats!
Following its magnificent shadow is the renowned tragedy Angel Beats! With a mixture of hilarious folly and the empathy it sparks in the viewer with the stories of unfulfilled lives of undeserving children it managed to make me smile and shed a tear at the same time.
Toradora!
Bringing this anime this high up the list is my favourite type of dere... tsundere :D Toradora!is a fun watch with a romantic setting that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
Steins;Gate
Next up is the time-travelling thriller Steins;Gate. Featuring the role-playing nerd that lives in a man cave with the vocabulary of Shakespeare this anime completely shattered my expectations of time-travel. And for the better. Starting out as a comedy, slowly the show gains momentum, morphing into a dark drama with seemingly no hope, but yet manages to finish with romance? Hell yeah!
Yahari ore no seishun love comedy wa machigatteiru. Zoku - Oregairu 2 - Snafu too
Exploring the deep psychological fears and desires of a social recluse, this show delivers great romance and comedy, mixed with just a dash of drama. Let me just compliment the incredible art style in season 2, a feast for one's eyes.
Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken
This show is just hilarious. It pristinely captures the spirit of a weeb. Let's not forget the absolutely perfect references it makes. Evangelion anyone? Ah, and one can also identify with the main character quite commonly... sadly...cough...
School Days
There is no hero... there is no grand idea you are supposed to support, like an idea of a tragic hero, the one who physically dies, but morally wins... The whole thing is the opposite... your hatred towards it is the idea... its conveying it's message subtly by inducing disguist in you. This is a critique of polygamy, not a story you're supposed to enjoy watching, it criticizes realistic social events and norms, and from this standpoint it shines indisputably. Never have I felt so much hatred towards a character, never have I been so happy for the ''protagonist'' to be brutally murdered, and all this in a slice of life/romance drama. Most people absolutely hate this anime, but I love it just because of that... that's why it succeeded. Hate isn't the opposite of love afterall.
And now, for the greatest of characters!
Holo
I have to say, I was tremendously impressed by the dialogues in Spice&Wolf. A silver tongue with a somewhat realistic tsundere attitude makes for a perfect waifu.
Zero Two
Bold, assertive, audacious, just an alpha thot all around. Perfect.
Yukino Yukinoshita
(´・◡・`)(´・◡・`)(´・◡・`)
Okabe Rintarou
The filthy roleplayer. (Epilepsy alert)
Kurisu Makise
Leeroy Jenkins! (So flashy... kreygasm)
Ishida Shouya
Drowning... but mostly in regret and guilt.
Taiga Aisaka
The most fearsome kawaii loli.
UMARUUUU
My indisputable role-model.
Rem
''I love Emilia'' (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
Midorikawa Hana
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The intros that you never skip!
There are lots more that I like but we have to narrow it down somehow. They're susceptible to change since I'll be discovering more and more ops :P
Don't you dare close the anime before this plays out!
Currently my favorite, it's not only eye candy but the song grows on you rather rapidly. Symbolism anyone?
The obvious tear-jerker.
Menma (ι´Д`)ノ
Even though Ichiban no Takaramono is only the ED for episode 10 of angel beats, I will place it in this list for it is still my single favorite vocal song.
Oh god... FUCKING DAB ON THE HATERS
I'm studying medicine at the moment and have an education in classical music that had accompanied me for the past 10 years of my life, the chosen instrument being the piano, so it goes without saying that I am an avid fan of classical anime covers. For good anime music check out Animenz and Theishter! But no, that's not the only thing I listen to, would be a tad dull, so I occasionally sneak in some nightcore aswell :)
A collection of my favorite soundtracks from shows I've seen.
Try not let this pearl wound your soul.
From the single most epic and well animated anime comes a piece to boil your blood.
Bathe in the glory that is Lelouch Vi Brittania!
Many people seem to dismiss this show and yet it carries of the better messages and conflicts within. Oh and music of course.
Inori (◠﹏◠✿)
Yuki ヽ(o`皿′o)ノ
And a little bit of mainstream to finish it off.
Here's where I mostly stroll around when it comes to music: Electronic and piano covers, with some handpicked japanese artists (think 花たん)
Current fav song ~(^^)~
Rick and Morty, Family guy, Brickleberry, South Park and some more normie series are obviously needed. You get it.
Seeing all these messages, gets me thinking back about our times together. Watching OWC, learning about osu, playing WoW.
Now I'm feeling so nostalgic and melancholic. I wonder where I would be today if it wasn't for you. Would I still have learnt about all those artists, USAO, Mishima Kurone and the likes? All that Touhou stuff?
It was a really big influence...
You're still my friend.
But I want and need to become a painter so badly.
I'm sorry for leaving like this..
Goodbye
Thank you sir. Although Mirai Nikki is on my favorites it may end up getting replaced along with two others I was kind of iffy about putting it on my favorites but still one of my 10s... But I see you have a nice character favorites list with only the best girls ;) haven't watched Umaru chan tho
