I'm not to bad thanks for asking! LOTGH sounds great from what you've described, I plan on giving it a go for sure, right now there's so much I want to watch so I don't know when I'll get to it but I definitely will at some point. I've seen Monster, (it's one of my favourite shows and among the few I've given a 10 actually), so I don't mind slow pacing, if anything I actually like it sometimes when it gets used in a way that strengthens the narrative.
As for recommendations, I would recommend for you to check out The Tatami Galaxy. I finished it a little while ago and it quickly became one of my favourites, some other ones I would recommend would have to be 3-gatsu no Lion, Vinland Saga, and Bungaku Series. All are great shows and these are among my favourite anime's out of all the anime that I've seen so far. I would go into detail but I don't want to bombard you with a wall of text, and I don't want to accidentally let any spoilers slip. As I mentioned previously though all of them are great in my opinion and I highly recommend you check them out!
Hey there! I don't think we've interacted at all since we've added each other. First off, how are ya? Second, how's LOTGH? I've heard many good things about it and I think I'll give it a go pretty soon.
Hi, thanks for the friend request! Sorry that I took a little while to accept it, the times I have been on this site as of late have been pretty brief. Holy shit that affinity lol, I think you have the highest affinity to me out of everyone I've added so far.
No problem! I've heard that FLCL is quite abstract and has an especially great soundtrack so I'll be checking that out along with Evangelion & Utena when I can!
Hi there! It does seem that we have a lot in common in terms of affinity! From what I can see, you may enjoy Haibane Renmei! The show shares the same artist as the one for Serial Experiments Lain (Yoshitoshi Abe) so they look very similar in artstyle, and they also give off very similar vibes to them. Dennou Coil also has that sci-fi cybertech feel as Lain aswell (though the plot isn't as deep for sure and it's more light hearted) but I feel you may enjoy that too. Mushishi is also another great show (very episodic however, you don't really get returning characters often sadly) and has a very calm but almost unsettling vibe to it. Mushishi almost feels as if the studio Ghibli decided to start making a series instead of just movies. To go along Ghibli movies, movies like My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service are also great classics!
If you like comedy then Gintama is great (though admittedly pretty immature at times haha) but the show does have some serious plot and character developments if you give it time (a LOT of it though, it took around 90 episodes for me to really start liking it so it requires some serious patience!)
There's also a movie called Colorful, which is about a kid who is given a second chance at life after his death. I liked this movie, however it seems to be very divisive so your mileage may very on this!
And no problem! If you have any anime you'd like to recommend please do!
