Lol, for all this time I thought wrongly that FMA is the prequel of FMA: BH without even doing a research about it, anyway, as planned for Kanon I will watch the remake before the original one, I think it's the better thing to do.

From what I've seen, I agree with you that the franchise as a whole is pretty average. But Season 2 of Railgun is surprisingly very good so far. The direction the story has taken is surprisingly dark and enthralling for the franchise.

I wouldn't say its turned everything upside down, but it's certainly a lot more entertaining to watch than what's come before it.
