A view on my Avatar and a second one on my List should say alot about my preferences,
I like epic/awesome/crazy/balls to the walls stuff Like most of the Krauts, I got into anime in the early 2000s watching the hypeshows like DBZ basically everyday after Kindergarten / Elementary School. Lost track in Middleschool since time got rare and I had fun in other things. Some years later I found the internet for myself, it still would take me many years to rediscover anime though. One night I watched the stream of this awesome dude, Fyurie, and we spoke a bit about Anime and stuff. Soon after I´d spam with with request for Ecchi/Harem bullshit, not knowing what great anime were out there. Then, one night I discovered his Yoko Background and asked him about me, he recommended me Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann saying it´s the best Anime ever made ( I have to agree with him to this very day ). The show soaked me and I watch the complete thing the same night and done the rewatch in the 2 following days with my best friend. Lately I´ve been reading way more than watching since I got quite plotintereseted and don´t have any disapointments with the anime adaptation. I´m way to lazy to update everything I read though, feel free to recommend me stuff you think I should watch/read. I somehow got a negative attitude towards mecha, even tho every single one I watched is a Masterpiece imo or at least damn near to be one. ( Must be a shitty Space Odysee or something I watched ages ago ) Beside the epic stuff i just like chilly/funny stuff, even tho it seems I´m growing out of the typical fighting shounen slowly. Feel free to judge my list and tell me how stupid or retarded you think it is.  Last but not least believe in you who believes in yourself *cough* balls to the walls *cough*

So I looked into the recommendatios for it (because I really have no clue an am sometimes not able to see the similarities xD), and well...
They list Higurashi, which I haven't completely watched, but yeah it includes Horror and Supernatural..and Gore xD But the settings are very different, but you could still check it out I guess ^^
I've never seen Mirai Nikki, but it also seems to be recommended quite often :/
Well, they recommend Blood+, and I guess what it's written in the recommendation is kinda true, and Blood+ is one of the best animes I've ever seen...So yeah, maybe that's what one could give a try xD You also said you're very emotional, and Blood+ is very, very sad (at least imo)
I also see what people like in this show, but well, it's not that well executed :/
Actually, it seems like we had the same problems with the show xD I also don't really see why everyone says it's so sad - I couldn't really relate to the characters as well (even I thought that Nana and Kurama were kinda decent) and didn't really see why it should be that sad. Maybe because the 13 episodes were just too less :/
The story in general was pretty basic, even though I liked the idea with the diclonii. It was very clichee, like you mentioned (horrible past etc.). Just like you said, there are several other stories presenting that too, but they carry it out way better.
The cruelty was pretty overdone. I'm not a fan of gore, but I mean, I can stand blood and all, but not if it's that absurd.
I actually enjoyed the comedy though. And as I said, some characters were decent. The soundtrack and art were also pretty good. I dunno, I think it had some good ideas, but they should've been carried out better.
I guess that's what I have to say xD So basically, I agree with you there ^^
Hope you don't mind me asking, but why do you dislike Elfen Lied? I don't really get it from looking at your 9/10s xD I'm not a fan or hater of this show, it's just that there are only very few people who did not like it, just like me, also didn't enjoy it, so I wondered if your reasons are similiar to mine :D
