I mean, indeed, the story concept is not so bad to be 2/10, so I decided to give it up to 4/10, not more at all. And about horimiya? I mean it was just a basic romance high school with some kink and nice art and soundtrack, you may find hundreds of these, but it was one of my first anime, so I guess that's why my review is so high for it.
my guy, you shouldn't have read the manga first :( the movie is way better. The. character development is more prominent, though you won't cry since you've already read the manga, but give the movie a shot. Also I thought i put tog on my list lmao. I don't really update my manga list that often cause I'm just not bothered
Were we watching the same show? Ginko has a unique worldview in the show that is constantly under attack - the view that most mushi are harmless with the proper understanding, and that they are beings that people should aim to coexist with. Meanwhile, most other mushishi are essentially exterminators, which comes up as a point of conflict multiple times in the show.
The fact that he's a mellow dude who seems pretty detached until he comes across a situation that requires him to use his strengths goes along well with his ideology. He's the epitome of "live and let live".
I don't think that "live and let live" is a perfect or even desireable philosophy to live by. The show doesn't seem to think so either, as Ginkos way of doing things backfires HARD in one of the earliest episodes (S1 ep4), where an entire village gets wiped out because he didn't exterminate a mushi that let nightmares become reality. An extreminator-type mushishi would've saved the village, but Ginkos way doomed everyone.
You just rarely see characters embody a theme so clearly. I think it's appealing. Certainly more interesting than most other characters I've seen.
Hey, thanks for the recommendation! My holiday season was incredibly busy so I haven't been able to start SKET Dance yet, but I'll be sure to start reading within the week.
