Indefinite PTW? Might as well just throw it in the trash or forget about it if you're gonna put things like that. I used to watch SoL and anime more so for the right reasons, as in the ones you mentioned. I still do watch for the right reasons, but also for some "wrong" ones as well!
It's terrible to think about how slow-minded I was at that moment. Thankfully that seems to be just a fluke experience.
I keep telling my other good friend on here to watch that, and we have a running joke going on with the Fall 2016 season that had Euphonium and other shows he still needs to catch up on and finish. But yes, Euphonium was very stylish and dramatic to say the least. I suppose I just got burnt out by all the high-school drama and theatrics though. You pretty much covered a lot of the reasons I hold the SoL genre close, other than me being a ladies enthusiast!
You were probably a thousand steps ahead of me there, as I didn't even think of my one-worded response being interpreted as such. And with laughter you are also a thousand ahead there too. I think with my friends we were watching something at one of their houses and I think I was at least 10-15 secs late to laugh at whatever I saw. I wish I remembered the details more fully, but I'm nonetheless scarred by my lackluster response there... haha
In recent times, probably Tsuki ga Kirei, Yagate Kimi ni Naru, and Chihayafuru 3 have been highlights as to what the drama-romance genre can be all about. The Euphonium series I would've listed there, but I feel as if that one squandered its opportunities to really showcase a proper romance. But yes, the 2010s and onward have really spoiled us with good SoL content.
Online can be easier because you aren't on-the-spot to respond and can use the internet (and even thesaurus) to convey your points across with more clarity. But it can also be more difficult because of how fast information may move and how much of it moves at once. I really get bummed out when I talk about a show or episode especially, and by the time the other party responds what I talked about is outdated or irrelevant.
Cool. Yeah, I gotta save all my money to dump into my main interests. And to me, if I'm out and about I'd rather not have to sit in front of a screen extensively like I do at home... haha
I'd like to think so! Some of the stuff in the hentai medium is truly vile or repulsive to look at. I came into the game searching for romance anime and still continue my journey even so many years later. The genre seems to be making a comeback, slowly but surely! As for horror, that's unfortunate for you.
Wow. The difference between a sleepover and party are pretty much night and day! I hear stories about quiet people opening up over time, but with me that hasn't been quite the case. I think indifference has overrun me and in most cases I find it hard to start or keep a conversation outside maybe a few select topics and situations.
A lot of folks think of me being around 19 or still in high school. As for the theater, I don't remember refreshments being so damn expensive, on top of the already crazy ticket prices. You were nuts to watch two in a row!
The keychain always reminds me of the good old days and how I met someone on here because of their K-On! movie review. It's funny how it took on a greater meaning once I found those Azusa stickers at the local convention. What will I find next trip around? haha
The only explanation I can think of behind the existence of extreme hentai is that without it some viewers would probably get their fix by going out into the real world and causing havoc there instead. Either that, or they're meant to represent the real horror genre within the anime medium. Most anime with the horror tag nowadays aren't all that scary in all honesty.
That's an interesting background. I ended up going the opposite route and keeping to myself a lot, which has had some adverse effects even to this day. Nonetheless, it's cool that the social stuff panned out for you. I used to use YGO as an excuse to go to the convention throughout weekends. Now I'm lazy and won't go aside from it being an annual hangout with some of my good friends. The event's been delayed here until sometime in August.
I don't even drink, so I'm likely to forget that I even need to present ID in the rare case that I need to fetch alcohol at a store for a friend. Same for the rare trip to the movie theater. Definitely take it as a compliment though because some folks can age very quickly, whether we're talking physically or mentally.
All right. The random topics we can leave for Discord and whatnot.
haha I hope that's not a real thing! Anyway, got my Yui keychain to go with the Azusa stickers on each side of my motorcycle. Wise words Yui spoke, indeed!
I made sure to include that in parenthesis so you wouldn't get any ideas. Some of the stuff I've come across in the hentai medium is just too extreme for my comprehension. And I doubt I've even scratched the surface if we're talking extreme content. Hard to believe stuff like that made it out into the real world. Japan can sometimes be terrifying!
Nice! That's exactly why I've become disconnected with the local convention here. To me, to get the true experience you really need to have that cosplay or social background down pat. I do like to check out the panels though and see what the guests (mainly seiyuu) have to say. Some of them look so much younger than they really are, and that too is terrifying! I'll lyk about Discord, but most of my conversational means I leave to WhatsApp, Messenger, and here. Nonetheless, my username on Discord is the same as on here (StyleF1re).
All right. I forgot that the whole reason this conversation chain started was because of NagiAsu. Well, you better get to it! haha
My fantasies and curiosities may all just be a dam waiting to burst at this rate. But for now, I'm good! I'll lyk if something comes up, but usually with random topics and such I let the other person break the ice and go with the flow from there.
No way it happens literally! I don't frequent sidewalks or city streets and barely see much around here that resembles your typical Truck-kun. I'm not gonna get isekai'd off into another world that easily! And yes, this whole primary interest thing presents quite a dilemma over what I really should be prioritizing. Still, I won't be shelving the car and motorcycle interests without towing closer to the edge first. It's quite the level of ecstacy ripping through corners and gears!
Sounds good! Another one I thought of off the top my head was the somersault kiss from Sakura Trick's pilot episode. There's also stuff I've seen in (vanilla) hentai, but I'll leave it at that... haha
Were you into the cosplay or roleplay scenes back in your heyday? Farthest I go is wearing one of my shirts with an anime female on it. Dang! You were really having fun with your anime. Funny you mention Discord, as I used to use it when I still played MapleStory back in early 2016 and partook in MAL club conversation. I still have it installed here, but don't use it at all.
Hopefully the new series change your perception of her. The reception of the series has been mixed, but it suits my style in being more action-based and serious in world and atmosphere. And if you want more Akane you'll get a little more of that as well. But now that the First Inspector movie has come out, that prospect is only going to intensify and get more complicated! haha
The sugar I mention of has been doing wonders in dealing with the pandemic! I had some fun experiences with food and anime, like watching Strawberry Panic while eating strawberry shortcake. Or I coincidentally bought two bags of gummy candies whose packaging colors matched the hair colors of the two main girls from Aikatsu Friends. I know there were more instances, but I'll need to jog my memory. That reminds me of another thing I'd like to try on or with a female. In Koufuku Graffiti ep 6 the girls enjoyed ice cream bars in a bathtub. Maybe a bathtub might be too confining for my likes, but you get the idea!
All right. I'm done here before I go full "Trash Mode" with my comments.
Thanks. It's insane how the consequences of every thought and decision become magnified ten or twenty-fold at least when you get deeper into adulthood. Whether I've lost out on relationship opportunities is none of my concern now, but I remember someone here noting a rather interesting point. She told me I was one of the few folks she came across whose primary interest today (in cars) remained the same from early childhood. Definitely a point I won't forget anytime soon!
Darn. Was hoping for some input there, especially from a certified Monogatari enthusiast!
No big deal. I also wonder the same thing in regards to being attentive of my surroundings and mainly with other people. Facebook isn't all that great, as some folks really pile on with irrelevant content. That said, I use it nowadays to keep tabs on what the motorcycle groups or its members are planning. And I have a few acquaintances on there like my old robotics teacher and a friend well versed in photography that always have interesting photos and stories to share. I'll just see what I can do with Dropbox and MAL then!
Mika was one of the worst characters, if not THE worst character, in the series for some time. But eventually I've come to learn that it really was just Psycho-Pass 2 being a total mess collectively. When the three movies and TV series came around in 2019, starting with Mika taking on a prominent role in the first movie, it all just clicked for me. She's an absolute peach of a woman who really rocks the uniform well. She's a bit fiery and ill-tempered, but I also see that as being passionate and even professional towards her role as an Inspector and also toward the Sibyl System and the justice it stands for. I really admire the trust she puts in her comrades and subordinates as well.
Nope! The only sugar I want anything to do with involves snacks and desserts... haha
Dang. Sounds very deep, but thanks for the reference! I'd say I've turned a corner fairly recently, but still have a distance to go. At least I have a better gauge of the mindset it takes to succeed and have greater respect toward those who do find success. Feels nice to have essentially rediscovered my old self again and not be chained down looking outward as a bystander regarding women or relationships. Now the curveball confession you mentioned of could possibly throw me off as well, but only after I'm grounded financially and have better clarity with my goals and interests. After all, I do enjoy photography, racing, motorcycles, and whatnot and have yet to truly delve into all of the aforementioned.
You dare mention that timeless scene? I will tell you that since then I've been curious as to how the act translates to reality and will try it on a woman if I ever get a chance.
Yes, they certainly do. No matter how much I like something, if I'm exposed to or partake in it too much I will get burnt out. This goes for food, entertainment, interests, people, and much more. Seems a little calmer at stores, as nowadays everyone out of the house appears to be jogging around, hiking, or relaxing in the ocean. So awesome seeing what people are all about when their time isn't occupied with work! Damn. Facebook is the easiest way I could share my photography exploits, though unfortunately I've set everything to private (as in friends only). If not, it only serves as a reminder to update or even overhaul my MAL profile. Instagram may also be in the works thanks to having a capable phone now.
The FBI jokes never seem to get old. I still think Hotaru Ichijou is the platinum standard for jail bait though. Thankfully I'm still safe for the time being! That said, I think my preference for ladies in anime is shifting more towards the older side, as in mid 20s to early 30s. That has allowed for characters such as Aoi Miyamori, Mika Shimotsuki, and even the main woman from the Maison Ikkoku anime I'm finally watching to shoot up my favorites list. But some teen characters still have their charms! As for my preferences in reality, I really don't know other than being legal age or not too much older than me... haha
The appreciation especially is something I'm still trying to grasp and emphasize more in my approach to life, considering that despite my shortcomings and indifference I technically have it better than a lot of other folks I've come across or learned about over life. Going forward, I basically see myself maximizing the perks and advantages I have a single and under-the-radar person. But idk. Life does throw wicked curveballs at you, so only time will tell what happens!
I'm definitely on board there! It's still fun though to ship the others with him, and that includes the sisters. Incest definitely isn't my thing, but it does have wild entertainment value in the anime medium on occasion. What I really like about their whole relationship is seeing both of them grow as a result of it. I know Araragi is pushing himself to be better, seeing how Hitagi has stepped up her game and really become sound and mature over the series. But goodness gracious must their romantic moments be intense just by the way they talk and act as individuals! And yeah, I can also relate to you on your view of Shinobu in a spiritual sense. Can't put a price on a lifelong companion for sure!
It probably turned out like that because I like the competitive nature and also the games themselves. Plus I need to fill in blanks somehow for entertainment mediums since I basically watch no movies, TV (outside from sports), and even live-action content online unless those are relative to cars/motorcycles. I feel the same way as well, especially with going back to what I mentioned of earlier in my indifference. Well, other than being more exposed in being "out there" be glad you still have work since a lot of folks are pretty screwed in that sense. This is definitely a good life lesson for all in regards to being prepared for what life may throw at you. Thankfully you're good on your end and can pick up the slack on the financial side! I've been traditionally an indoors person as well, but I do need my fill with going outside especially with a camera and motorcycle in hand. Possibly two of the best medicines out there for life's trials in my book!
Well, back to watching anime with girls who are too young and too damn good. Until next comment! haha
Thanks for the info. Not going to even bother myself...
Being in control of what I watch and do is fine, and it's a little costly, but fair tradeoff in my book over the spoils of having a partner around or massive social circle.
Yeah, her progression from when she was starting out to then was insane. I'll have to look back on all of the three main ladies' promotional episodes. Heck, even after skimming over the episode synopses I'm still running blank on when things happened and when each of the ladies were promoted. Guess it means the rewatch will come soon, especially with having a bit more free time to work with for the time being.
There was a really sophisticated air surrounding Hitagi for me. At least that was the way I saw things. Same with maybe Kaiki and the other older adults. I always think of donuts when Shinobu comes to mind. Her other form is provocative, but not really my style. But I do like donuts!
I'm neutral to it all. From a personal standpoint, other than not having an income or steady occupation of time it doesn't feel all that different. Well, outside of not having any sporting news to follow since I follow a ton of professional leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, auto racing, tennis, football). Didn't realize how much time and attention I committed to all that. Anyway, being as distanced or anti-social as I can be my other interests like sim-racing, anime, motorcycling, and photography honestly aren't too compromised. Unless a curfew goes into effect, I'll be looking forward to clear nights and highways over the next week or so!
So what is your perspective on the pandemic and its influence on your lifestyle?
That's been a blessing and a curse in all honesty. I kind of rely on others to recommend me stuff outside my range, or to reconsider dropped and overlooked shows. And being as locked in as I can be, it leaves me out of the conversation regarding mainstream shows and stuff I can't be bothered to look at. That sadly includes even Ghibli works. Plus, even in the shows I do like and vibe by I catch myself missing out on a lot of finer details and homages when reading what others have to say in episode forums and comments.
Absolutely! Beauty in simplicity is something Aria masterfully executed. It didn't seem like much initially and even well into Natural, but everything really does come together full circle with Origination. So many timeless moments from that anime, such as Alice playing hopscotch or trying to toe lines and shadows on her travels, that I can personally relate to through my childhood!
Yup. It's not good to get too stuck on the past and miss out on appreciating what the present and future can bring. Now while the 90s and 00s had their thing going with adult character designs and personalities, the 10s had it going with SoL and CGDCT anime! 2019 into the 2020s have brought back some old friends too. I still can't believe random shows like Strike the Blood, Girls und Panzer, Aikatsu, Chihayafuru, and Madoka Magica all have something to offer so many damn years later.
Kaiki as a top female? Didn't know that was a thing! I just knew of him as a true paper chaser or go-getter. Now that I think about it though, the only female I really connect with is Hitagi, though it was awkward to see her with short hair and, in later installments, not see her around much at all. Adult Mayoi, Yotsugi, and the two Araragi sisters are pretty cool though. Although I've long lost touch with what is actually happening throughout the series, I really love the unique blitz of verbal warfare on display. Even the youngest folks in the show are well-versed with the art of trash talking and could end quite a few people's careers with their sharp tongues.
All right. Back to doing not much of anything because of this pandemic putting a dent on things! haha
Unfortunately, the few friends I have that are into anime don't watch the same genres or show types as I do. And having no gf to cuddle or get cozy with means no chance for rewatches there either! bwahaha... As for Aria, that sounds cool. Especially for how fast real life moves and your perceptions toward life can shift. I have to bet it would have a seriously more profound effect the next few times you see it. It's one of those anime that made me take a step back and appreciate the little things surrounding us and our lifestyles.
The game has changed, unfortunately! People in the 90s and 00s especially had it good with the seinen types. The 10s had their stuff, but to me it was different to what came out back then like Monster, Texhnolyze, GitS, Haibane Renmei, etc. Can never get myself enough Monogatari, especially for being the lady enthusiast I am! Plus I love how everyone tilts their head and talks their own trash with such sharpness and grace.
I remember getting up to 15+ airings throughout seasons on a consistent basis. Wasn't the best use of time though, so I switched things up and started dropping everything that wasn't hot or appealing out the gate. On the most extreme end, I dropped over 20 shows from one of the seasons back in 2013 or 2014, having completed at least the full first episode for each drop.
I actually didn't come across MAL until about a year after completing my first anime series. I did watch bits and pieces of random anime throughout my childhood, but nothing from beginning to end. Every now and then my curiosity gets me looking back once more at episodes for shows I completed years ago, but I find it hard to justify myself rewatching an anime in full when I could be watching something new or putting time elsewhere. That said, I do owe it to myself to rewatch at least my top favorites in full and especially Aria and GitS.
Yeah, the screaming or constant yapping of characters in those types of shows is a major detriment for me. Same goes for the length of series in ratio to the progression of major characters and storylines. Nothing wrong with admitting age as a factor! It's definitely something I can relate to with anime and all sorts of entertainment mediums. As for mystery/thriller anime, not really. I know a lot of people were disappointed with Psycho Pass 3, but I like shows where the characters are very mature in disposition and the world feels grand and adult-like in its complexion. Kyokou Siuri might also be worthy of mention, but I think they're spending too much time on a single arc/phenomenon which really isn't all that appealing. But generally-speaking, other than those I can't point out too much from the mystery or thriller camp other than maybe Acca and the Monogatari installments. I really want action and mystery seinen anime to make a comeback!
