Damnn you wrote the Pupa review on my bday. What a king. Btw I mostly agree w you and I'm glad you are open-minded unlike the majority of people who read the manga.

Pop-punk is more of this to me (in one way): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45BJugC3txU
Yeah I categorize that as generic contemporary young pop-rock. Fast, consistent beats with energetic vocals.

I liked that song they did for Psycho-Pass, and the album that song was on was alright
Wut... I consider "abnormalize" one of the weaker songs on that album. "Metamorphose" is my favorite. The guitar is so abused. MV is single shot, which is rare for recent videos. Films tends to cut shots at a few seconds each.

Among their PP songs my favorite would be "Enigmatic Feeling".

I wish they release instrumental versions of their songs, but alas.... I can't help but wonder if they could sound even better without vocals.

Finally got around to Kano. Have to admit... I am really only in it for the instrumental melodies. Do you know who's the composer?

Pretty good.

their second album Totem
Ooh it's on bandcamp.

Not quite my taste.

Incidentally,

http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2015/06/11-1/video-bushiroad-music-to-release-anison-the-punk-album-in-july

I guess it's punk rock versions of anime pop songs. Does that make it punk pop?

As for my taste, 凛として時雨 is perhaps my most appropriate example of rock. An eclectic sample of screamo/math/post-hardcore/post-rock/indie/alt/shoegaze/instrumental. Mainly I'm in it for the tone of guitar/drums(/TK's sexy voice :D), but 凛として時雨's catalog has a lot of other qualities I like.

Kano is quite literally perfect in every single way possible. I totally don't think this because of an acid trip.
:D

If you're getting into french bands, check out Baton Rouge, Mihai Edrisch (one of the first french screamo bands, still one of the best from that era), Ancre, and Sed Non Satiata.
Any of them with long instrumental segments?

Sounds like you don't listen to much pop-punk.
I've met punk rock before, but that's not exactly the same thing is it.
tsog Jun 9, 2015 5:06 PM
Having listened to Japanese music for so long I've pretty much neglected lyrics. When I started listening to Aussitot Mort it sounded no more foreign even though it's my first French band. Even if a song has English lyrics I'm not paying much attention to the lyrics themselves.

To me I find solace in the notes and rhythm and texture, not in the lyrics. Something to set a mental pace.

If you want more poppy stuff
Nah not really. My pop taste has narrowed down to artists that sound like supercell's/yanagi nagi's latter works.

I'll start on Kano soon then.
tsog Jun 9, 2015 4:39 PM
I didn't listen to screamo till recently, so don't blame me :P

I just love that mood/texture in 黒斑の侵蝕 and 被覆する閉塞. I'm not one who's into vocals at all except for a selective few artists.

Yeah I need to listen to Kano too. That song from Houkago no Pleiades is catchy. The ryo/supercell kind of catchy, pure, innocent pop.

I know.. Heaven in Her Arms is better....

Edit:
Kano avy?
tsog Jun 7, 2015 12:52 PM
lol maybe I'm one of the few that listens to Envy for the post-rock, not the screamo
tsog Jun 7, 2015 10:04 AM
Sorry totally didn't recognize you at first. I've been listening to Envy a little too much :D

Have you sampled Atheist's Cornea yet?
hpulley Jun 3, 2015 6:09 AM
No, I hadn't seen that. Thanks! I'll check it out.
hpulley Mar 22, 2015 7:38 AM
I agree, the app works pretty well. I didn't even try to get the app using my Canada iTunes account, I used my Japan one so I don't know if it is even available elsewhere. With a Japanese iTunes account to make purchases you need either a Japanese credit card, which I don't have, or Japanese iTunes cards which you can buy from places like japan-codes.com and it is really quite easy. Actually too easy LOL It was nicer when it was a pain in the ass, now I can spend even more money, just what I didn't need LOL
hpulley Mar 18, 2015 12:18 PM
Thanks, installing it now. I have a Japanese iTunes account. Turns out I had not read Yama no Susume 60 yet so I have something to try.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
