Well, at least One Piece was able to keep me interested, unlike Fire Force. Fire Force does nothing but spitting expositions and meaningless power explanations
Who mutes the sounds or music when watching a show? Seriously, who does that? Also, it's not about music, it's about the presentation, build-up, and clashing of ideals. That's what makes these typical shounen interesting, to me at least. Fire Force got none of those elements.
Shounen in itself is flawed. But the reason that I and many others love this genre is because it's fucking enjoyable when it's done right. A well-done shounen has few flaws here and there, but as long as the "asspull" that you say don't butcher the experience then I'm fine with it. I care more about what a show in shounen has to offer to my enjoyment than what it can teach me. I don't expect deep, philosophical, or real-world issues.
I watch shounen for the story, characters, and enjoyment. If a typical shounen anime that does its job in setting up and deliver its promises, I'm happy. Again, it's the typical Shounen trash that I love.
