Also, don't worry about hyping it; I think it's been hyped enough around me that I've kind of come numb to it. XD
Speaking of FUNimation's shows, I keep debating on whether or not I should invest in an account with them. I tend to download everything these days, so I wonder if it'd be a waste... it'd be nice if I had a smart phone or something, I guess, and it could mean I could watch more things on my actual TV rather than on my computer, but I'm still not sure.
I remember those little discs! I got several of them from different companies at conventions years ago and I would sit there and watch all of the ones that looked interesting. It actually did inspire me to check out some series and purchase them, and even remember ones I once heard about. I don't have them anymore, though, but I'm sure they'd be fun nostalgia now.
Hah, that's like me, too. I'll watch several episodes of something, then not touch it for weeks, or months, and then be like, "Well, if I actually want to watch this, then I'll try starting from the beginning again since I don't remember much about it." Depending on the series, it can inspire the same pattern all over again, so I try to look up summaries of episodes instead. XD
Yeah, despite my "I should have watched this" and "I've known about this for HOW long and haven't seen it yet?" kind of attitude, I still do make time for the stuff I really want to watch and know I'll get to it eventually. :D
As for Otaku no Video, yeah, I liked it... it was an interesting watch. It was like a documentary watching experience, and I kind of like documentaries. I liked the first episode better than the second - the second seemed to jump into a wild escapade with the characters to the point I kind of got turned off by it. And the live action bits were definitely fun to watch, but I had this kind of feeling that I wasn't sure if they were supposed to be looked at as funny or sad, and were just kind of portrayed as realistic, without any kind of biased opinion and left the viewer to their own kind of interpretation of how the otaku lifestyle is. It was kind of cool in that sense, but I think the characters in the animated format for the second episode distracted me so bad that I rated it lower than what I would have, had I just seen the first episode. Still, I wouldn't mind watching it again.
Yep, it's new. I'm kind of surprised but at the same time disappointed over how many different pictures there are with Sakura in that kitty costume. I'm running out of options, darn it. But yes, I spent the majority of yesterday revamping my profile because I was kind of tired of all the PIIIIIIINK. Pink is okay, and obviously if I'm using Sakura in her kitty outfit as my... alias? Icon? Alter ego? I'm not sure what's the right word... but, anyway, if I'm using her in that particular outfit, of course there will be some pink. But my profile page has toned that down somewhat for now, and it's much more basic and simple. Kind of nice; I couldn't help but feel my last profile was really busy and cluttered. But thank you.
I like Apollon okay right now. I really love how the music played matches up with the animation and I cannot imagine how difficult and time consuming but rewarding that must be. I wanna be able to just sit down and go through it, since it's so short and watching an episode once in a while is kind of bleh. I don't feel like I'm having the full experience or something.
Yes, it's time I started watching things from particular studios and Gainax is one I hear about all the time. I figured it was about time I finally watched Evangelion, too. I feel like it's discussed everywhere and I'm like, "Y'know, as long as I've known about this series, you would have thought I'd finally sit down and watch it by now." I saw an ending clip of the final episode... y'know, that last wtf kind of moment... so I know it out of context, so it'll probably still make me go, "Wat," in context as well. But I'm looking forward to working through it.
Otherwise, I see you've picked up Okami-San and Her Seven Companions... I mean, it's only one episode that you've actually seen, sure, but how is it? I wish I still had the FUNimation Channel. It was so easy for me to gain an interest in series I would have never even considered watching. But this one I did, mainly because I got a little advertisement postcard in one of my RightStuf orders. I really like how FUNimation advertises their shows; namely their trailers.
Comic Party's another thing I see you've completed and it's another one I've known about for a while and haven't gotten to. I finally watched Otaku no Video after knowing about it from Otakon for several years now, so I guess it shows I'm on the right track? XD
Enjoy the YUA rewatch! :)
That's an amazing idea. I've had this obsession lately with watching lip flaps; I watch a lot of animations on Newgrounds so I always like to see how they make that work to their advantage and now I've been watching it on anime dubs too. I should close my eyes on an anime I've already seen and listen to it dubbed too. It could be a lot of fun.
But yeah, I can see why people enjoy this show so much; I like that it doesn't have that set of otaku stereotypes mixed into it like SO MANY ANIME fall prone to, and I think that's why I like that it's different and still looks cool~ :D
LMAO! We're talking about two different "Colorful" anime here; I know the one you're talking about, though - I haven't seen it, but I discovered it while looking to hunt down the DVD/Bluray of the one I watched. I know the "Colorful" you're talking about is a 16 episode ecchi series; the "Colorful" I watched is a slice-of-life drama movie about a guy who dies and his soul is placed into this Makoto boy and he has to figure out why Makoto would even want to commit suicide in the first place because it seems like he has a decent life at first. BEAUTIFUL movie, by the way - I highly, highly recommend it. It makes me so mad it hasn't been licensed, because I would preorder that thing in a heartbeat and I'm not one to preorder anything.
It is kind of slow, though, and I think the movie is more about the journey and the experience rather than the characters, which I noticed some negative reviews got hung up on. I absolutely loved it, though; I didn't find it obnoxiously long, either, because I felt like I could take my time and enjoy the interaction between characters and the environment.
And that's okay! I figured you got lost in the chat again or you got sidetracked with something you had to do. That Cowboy Bebop reading was amazing. I watched the podcast until the very end once I finally got up at, what, noon or so - I wanted to be awake much, much earlier, damn it! XD Ah, well. Hopefully what I missed gets properly preserved and not stolen this time. *knocks on wood* But it was so much fun and good to hear from you again. :D
I really like it and I am excited to finish it now that you've said that~ x3 Hopefully I'll get the chance to just sit down and marathon a good chunk of it in the next couple of weeks~ ♥
I am loving Gankutsuou so far. I am wondering why this has been sitting in my backlog untouched for years. I guess I was skeptical about watching this story converted into an anime, so it has definitely been a pleasant surprise even though I have always heard how good it is.
And I agree with you about Madlax-It has been an interesting series. It hasn't been as good as Noir IMO but it does well on its own merits.
I've heard of Gunslinger Girl and have known about it for the longest time but it keeps getting shoved aside in favor of other things. XD
But I did not know those things about it, so thank you. I'd also never heard of Gunsmith Cats... interesting.
Apparently there's more to Dirty Pair than I realized when I first picked up the original TV series... like Dirty Pair Flash and all... but I am liking it so far! The opening theme has been stuck in my head for a week, haha. I wasn't really thrilled with the first few episodes and there's no real introduction to the leads, Kei and Yuri, but it's kind of grown on me. Once I got on episode 5 and onward I finally really did start laughing at Kei and Yuri's antics together to get their jobs done and sometimes the lengths they'll go to make sure it's done. By now I feel like I really like and understand the partnership they share. So it is really entertaining.
Apparently from what I've read they're one of the first or the first girls with guns kind of anime...? I haven't really experienced any girls with guns and since this is my first I'm liking what I'm seeing. Being girls they talk about men and such but it's really for laughs, I think. Or, at least, I laugh when they argue about what types they're into and stuff.
...Wow, you have seen a lot. XD
Yeah, most of what I have seen is what I own, and I've rewatched most of it several times... so... ^^;;
