violet evergarden is an LN or light novel, it's not a visual novel.

anyone who has read the LN knows that violet evergarden is a very faithful adaptation. It doesn't crank anything up as you might suggest and violet evergarden translates very well into an anime. This isn't some manga like yotsuba, komi-san, or vagabond where they might have a distinct art style that doesn't animate well, story that is so absurd that it is almost impossible to make a good animated adaptation, or the characters might not move that much that it doesn't make sense to animate it. Violet evergarden has none of those restraints since its a LN, its just pages upon pages of text detailing everything and they don't have to worry about the story being to absurd nor to hard to animate, there's virtually no reason why violet evergarden doesn't translate well to an animation. If you have a problem with the anime, then you're most likely going to have a problem with the LN

Do you realize that violet evergarden is based on an award winning LN which won all 3 categories on a kyoani writing competition? And here you are complaining about how the writing and character is trash and its just a pretty show with no substance. SPOILER ALERT people judge a LN based on its story, not by its cover art. Maybe its not the the fault of the show that you can't relate with the characters, you're just too dense
