it's ya they Shoelaces
This is like an introduction or something idk, do I really exist anyway? autistic, mentally ill, and slightly traumatised /lh
they/them or she/her depending on the day, no pronouns also cool. grey ace grey aro bi in a NBLM and WLW way
I like anime, donghua, manga, manhua, manhwa, etc. I also like webnovels and lightnovels often xianxia or xuanhuan stuff, I used to play video games a lot but not so much anymore, TTRPGs are great tho
So I like horror and tragic and sad stuff especially, cute fluffy romance stuff is cool too, action is okay but I tend to prefer to read webnovels for that. I also really like stuff with cool worldbuilding. I also tend to read quite a lot of lgbt stuff
My rating system is kinda non existent /hj
If something is rated really low it probably means there's a specific issue with it that has caused it to be that low. Some stuff would be rated higher but has been downgraded due to specific issues.
Manga is more harshly rated so 8 or higher is kinda recommended
Most anime rated 9 or 10 is probably worth having a look at
- 9 or 10 is like bc it's great at what it is trying to be or it offers something most other manga/anime/whatever don't and is probably a masterpiece in some way, or just like it a lot
- 8 is pretty good or like would be higher but had to be rated lower bc of specific issues with it
- 7 is like junk food, it's not amazing or anything but it's probably fine, or it's like it would be higher but has a few specific issues
- 5 or 6 are like eh like just either like it's good and really not my kind of thing or is just very average, or there's a few issues with it and needs to be lower than it otherwise would be
- 4 or 3 are like just bc there's very significant issues with it, or something caused me to hate it, or it just sucks
- 2 or 1 are just like basically like wish I never watched this, I really hate it
If anything is dropped, it might be a view on its quality, or I might have just decided I didn't feel like watching it. (If it's that it probably is just that, I picked up a bunch of shows in an anime season and then just didn't feel like finishing them.)
As for my favourites
Anime faves are only loosely things I like, I'm struggling to think of ones that I like that much, most of them are just fun in some way and have a lot of style or something. Most of them are worth trying an episode of tho.
Manga faves are basically just things i've read and liked a lot, just personal faves not things I actually recommend for others.
Character faves are mostly characters I either just think are cool or find relatable, several gender nonconforming characters lmao
sorry if any of this is poorly written, I had to retype it after the thing failed to send so I'm low on patience

i do enjoy good worldbuilding even if i don't normally watch isekais so i appreciate that rec!
and thank you for your contributions, even if it's not specialized for me it's always better to go into watching or reading something that was at least enjoyable to someone else :)
i will add those shows in, i haven't encountered many people talking abt Mars Red or Ascendance of a Bookworm before
Fruits Basket i know a lot of people like, i've seen the older version of the anime but i didn't watch past further than the first ep of the 2019 version :') bc i wasn't much of a fan of kyo when i watched the original but maybe i'll get back to it eventually
Dorehedoro is one i've seen around a lot but i wasn't sure if it would be something my style, i'll be adding it too
those webtoon and manhwa recs are appreciated bc i actually haven't delved into the popular ones as much, my last webtoon phase was at least 5 years ago so my taste is quite outdated LOL i have read Heartstopper tho and i found it pretty sweet
i've actually been trying to prioritize getting into ORV for so long i've just been procrastinating Really hard but i did read a few webnovels here n there so Lord of the Mysteries sounds good for me
as for recs of my own, i've been slacking on anime recently because i procrastinate on watching shows so that i don't get distracted (i tend to binge...) so i've been reading more, but i've found nothing that outstanding
im not too sure of what will match ur taste but based on the vibes from ur favs, maybe Great Pretender or Death Parade might be ones u could like? though Great Pretender has a final episode that you'd want to purposely erase from ur memory to keep good thoughts of the show..
the last show i finished i think was Samurai Flamenco but it's a very hit or miss parody superhero show that has a drastic atmosphere change in the middle of it
i was also watching Monster but im not far into it enough to say my thoughts, i tend to have to fast forward through it a lot but it's still engaging
i started watching Romantic Killer as well just to mindlessly watch something romcom-y :p
as for stuff to read, i mainly only recently have read short and sweet things that don't require much thought
the most plot-heavy series i read recently was Witch Hat Atelier, which i admit is good and deserves the love it gets, but it wasn't like Super engaging for me
apart from that it's just been digging through some romance manga haha, i recently liked 'The Moon on a Rainy Night' and 'S to N'
Skip to Loafer is also really chill and lighthearted but im not very far into it yet
a few underrated older ones that have a bit of mystery/drama atmosphere in them but might be a hit or miss are 'Piece' and Aono-kun ni Sawaritai kara Shinitai, not sure if they'll be ur cup of tea though
but yea that's what i can contribute atm ^^
do u have any recs or anything interesting u’ve read/watched recently?
