To be honest I haven't read the original Overlord, so I'll trust you on the evaluation, m8. Also, I'll check out The New Gate, thanks a lot. But yeah, considering how popular SAO was during Overlord's creation and then airing, the spooky skeleton seems like a Kirito's egdier twin, who somehow managed to become even more OP while adding litlle to no value to the story.
The MC problem is actually pretty sad, even more so considering how eagerly this kind of lazy uninspired shit is being consumed by the target demos. Good characters and plots take a lot of time and writer's passion to come into being, which apparently is too much trouble for some people.
Anyway, thanks for your time.
Cheers! ^_^

Yeah, Overlord is kinda shit. There is an OP protagonist who can't decide if he's good or evil and there are all other characters who exist just to acknowledge how cool he is. That's it. The show can be entertaining at times (especially when the skeleton is not given screentime), but it's still shallow.

Your review on Overlord III wasn't good at all but being honest I am not going to get on that because I'm waaaaay too lazy to list the reasons why (And no, I am not making crap up just to belittle your review). What I did come here for is to encourage you to keep watching after episode 5. I believe it started to get better after.

Well, it was kinda inevitable as lot of novel content is Ainz inner monologue, which is fine in book but would be hard to make constant monologuing entertaining in animated series.

But yeah, I have to agree that anime is watered down. Still fun though, just that the novel is better. I'd even say that the anime is more of a candy for novel readers.

And now that you mention it, yes, it is interesting that the color palette is quite bright for the tone of the franchise. Especially if compared to novel illustrations.

"It has nothing to do with the novel which has plenty of dark elements that makes the whole story as such interesting"
I've read the novel. I haven't noticed any plot deviation. Would you mind naming what was changed in the anime?

i thought S3 was the 5th installation of the series

Helped a bit but to clarify when I said "your particular circumstances" I was referring to why you created a MAL account recently and why you haven't updated your list. (Doesn't seem like that was clear based on your response.) I've only been watching anime since 2013-ish, but practically all my free time has gone to it.

If I knew what you had seen I'd be able to check for myself if I felt you had seen everything worthwhile from mid 90's to 2010's but maybe that's for another time, but what I can say for sure is that while Major is amazing (and with a rewatch it may even be my favorite sports anime), you should check out "Touch" and maybe "Cross Game". Mitsuru Adachi clearly had a huge influence on the author of Major as some of the earlier story elements are very similar to Adachi's works as well as the fact his manga is serialized in the same magazine as Adachi.

I'm personally only 21 years old but I don't see my love for anime fading anytime soon, but I do enjoy reading novels (admittedly I mostly read Light Novels) as well as manga. As for translating novels, do you mean from Japanese to English? If so, someone really needs to translate more of Nahoko Uehashi's works, I'd buy them all in a split second.

As a side note, I dislike Prince of Tennis because it goes heavily into outlandish territory while stuff like Haikyu can dramatize normal actions, it still stays semi-grounded and as a person who loves sports irl as well, that's a huge element I want from the sports anime I watch. Kuroku no Basuke also has that problem.

I haven't gotten through all of Slam Dunk only because despite being more grounded, it didn't feel *realistic*. I hope you get the difference there but our mc knows nothing about basketball and for most of what I saw makes 0 progress and shows little natural talent for the sport yet from what I heard contributes in games and eventually becomes a great player, I didn't like the idea of that at all but if I'm wrong, let me know.

I see you responded to krauser there, don't care much for what he said, but there is an odd amount of people with just created accounts who make reviews, and I've always wondered why that is. No updated lists, and generally just made and hating on some recent seasonal anime.(Looking further down, seems everyone is accusing you of the same thing though krauser is by far the most toxic about it.) This has nothing to do with you, other than the fact your account also resembles that, but I am curious to hear your particular circumstances and what other sports anime you like, and if you plan to update your lists on here. (saw hanebado review.)

@krauserken Coming to the profile page of a stranger to post belittling comments without even allowing a reply through enabling the "friends-only" tag is certainly the epitome of courage. Also, if you had read the previous conversations, you would have seen that this is my first and only account on this site, which substantially turns your comment into nothing but slander. Thus I took the freedom to report you.

For all the others feeling like they have to post comments on my profile with no content but slander, I'd like you to refrain from that as I will simply report them. If you don't like a review, you are free to post another review that expresses your own opinion. Venting your frustration on someone having a different opinion in regards to your beloved series is certainly not the correct way to go about it.

Ah, my apologies if I came off rude.
Relith Aug 29, 2018 3:02 PM
Nope, just curious as to why you made a separate account for your review.
Relith Aug 28, 2018 5:11 PM
Did you make this account just to shit on Overlord III?
It’s time to ditch the text file.
