Ah, okay, didn't know you were referring to the 'last time I saw' thing this whole time. Yeah, it's totally plausible and probably the most sensible explanation we have if those final thoughts at the end of Chapter 31 were just her reflections on her past. If this really is what happened, hopefully they presented this in a way that was clear to the reader in the manga sometime after the accident.

Right, but like I mentioned: "Are you saying that there's something significant about anime being a flashback of the manga's second half vs. the anime just normally coming before the second half?" In other words, what's the difference between the first half (i.e. the anime) being a prequel / flashback of the second half, versus the first half just normally coming before the second half? Both scenarios seem exactly the same to me, I don't really see what would change if we thought of the second half being "present time" vs the second half just normally depicting future events.

Hmm, maybe I'm missing something, but didn't we already know that the story's in chronological order and that the manga's second half comes chronologically after the manga's first half (i.e. the anime)? Or are you saying that there's something significant about anime being a flashback of the manga's second half vs. the anime just normally coming before the second half?

Hectic weekend; apologies for the late reply.

All ideas equally plausible -- I hadn't thought of the coma idea, I like it -- but if it was either of the first two, the author probably would've revealed it to us later in the manga. Oh well, who knows, it isn't really a work that warrants this much analysis anyway so I'm just leaving it as a poorly executed statement.

Thanks for the link and summary. Yikes, sounds like too many problems and drama, doubt I'd enjoy reading/watching what's described in the last four paragraphs very much. Hmm, still don't really understand the "last time I saw Yano" thing, sounds like the author made a mistake there, like they originally weren't supposed to meet again but the author changed his/her mind later. Maybe that's why it's not in the anime.

>I have a couple of theories, if you're interested.

Sure.

>sorry for so many replies.

Nah, feel free. My wall's all yours.

That's curious. So I'm guessing they found a loophole to make that "that day was the last time I saw Yano" statement still make sense then, like Nanami going blind before they meet or something.

I actually don't know how the manga ends, haven't read it. Only decided to check out the final episode's chapter on a whim and found an important line they left out in the anime's final scene, as I mentioned in the review. Check out the last few pages of chapter 31 to see what I mean.

(Hint: It'll answer your question.)

- Hmm, there are a lot of good sequels that you haven't seen yet. I'm surprised you never seen Clannad: After Story and the next two seasons of Hell Girl. Chuunibyou's sequel just finished airing, too.

- You haven't seen Monster yet?! Well, those are a lot of episodes to dedicate yourself to, so I'll rec ones with fewer episodes.

- This is going by genre.
Horror: Another or Shiki
Action/Comedy: Noragami
Romantic Comedy: Honey and Clover or Skip Beat
