Well met!
Anime has been a huge part of me! I created many enjoyable memories and even learned certain aspects of life. I have several that I attend too (whether it's re-watching the series, going in-depth for discussion and being part of the community) due to me only taking an interest in unique concepts unless I find something new that sparks interest or a friends recommendation but realistically I'm just picky.
The most appealing genres that intrigue me the involve philosophic, psychological and uncommon elements in anime that bring thoughtful, sincere and unique characters. Certain characteristics I express interest in tend to be the more reserved, lighthearted, outgoing and determined alongside the possibility of having an intriguing history.
Observing their actions on a personal level and what causes them to tick is what drives them forward as individuals and what forms them to stand out. However aside from the obvious in-depth details and back story, I feel visuals and character design is just as important and is key in what ultimately defines who they are even if fan service is at hand.
No matter the story even if the narrative is rather uncertain, cliche, unoriginal or even downright predictable, characters are the soul and most important aspect of any story-driven anime which in the end carry these series toward an enticing experience.
