Hey ho.

So you're watching Gintama that's great.

Well let me give you an advice.
Just for the information.

The first Episodes and the following first Episodes can be quite average.
I know that it can be for many people. So maybe for you as well.

But it will improve a lot afterwards.
So I hope you will keep on watching Gintama

Wait hold on a minute
You say cheer danshi is fujoshi bait and full of fan-service?? Then what is yuri on ice and free??

Half of the characters introduction, They were introduce in-directly(means they are there but we don't know who they are) in episode 5.
Episode 5.5 Haru did say that new members will be joining the team
Episode 6 introduction to the new members

Bad pacing, Yea that one I agree if follow the story WHICH IS NONE. You will not get the show at all because there is no story
Follow the characters because there is no story

Your Re:Zero review is very well written. =)

Your insights are perfectly valid: the story and characters are designed to be stupid, obnoxious, inconsistent, illogical, etc.
It's meant to be that way - the author said that himself in his interviews ;).

Don't let the flames affect you... there are quite many other low score reviews that also share your views.

Read your Re:zero review and after reading this:

"The characters are boring as shit. The main character makes use of some slapstick humor tropes, like being comic relief and the hero at the same time- all it makes me think is that he's stupid as hell. Additionally, he becomes bizarrely obsessed with the main heroine over a very short amount of time, and this... devotion... becomes more and more drastic over the episodes, up to the point where he's directly disobeying her express wishes to do what he thinks is best- for her. (This was the biggest reason I dropped it. I fuckin' dislike the protag.) Finally, in a holy trinity of shit, he switches character types alarmingly often, from the charmingly obtuse but cheery character to the murderously entitled one to scared-to-the-point-of-shitting-his-pants."

I'm not really sure you understood what the intent was. Subaru is supposed to be stupid. He's flawed. He tends to let things get out of hand due to not really being aware of what other people feel or want, and comes off as entitled due to how he freaks out when things don't go his way. Those are character traits. Episode 13 is the point where his obsession with Emilia comes to a head; where his flaws all turn against him at once and cause a complete and total breakdown of his character, resulting in him damaging his relationship with Emilia and forcing him to look inwards to repair their relationship and himself. It's not switching character types, it's the second act of a character arc. The part where the character is at their lowest, and has to work and fight to pull themselves back up. It's screenwriting 101.

So, I respect your right to that opinion but I honestly don't think you understood the structure of the story enough to criticize it. You aren't supposed to like a main character at every point of a story; that's dumb. That's what makes shows like Amaama to Inazuma so boring; they don't have the balls to take a chance with its characters and are content to just plod along thoughtlessly. I can get behind the other parts of your review and even agree with parts of it despite not agreeing with your overall opinion, but I find your criticism of Subaru absurd.

While I share similar opinions with you on Re:Zero (in reference to your Re:Zero review), I just want to inform you that the 14th episode is probably the worst episode to make the decision to drop the series. The 15th episode experiences a formidable rise in quality, compared to all previous episodes. I suggest you at least give a try to continue up to the 15th episode. I think you can make a proper decision to drop the series or not at that point. Though, from what I've heard from people who have read the source material, the story only gets better from that point. I used to think, for almost the entirety I've watched the series, that it was a joke that I've picked it up in the first place, but as of now, I am legitimately enjoying it to a certain degree.

Tottaly agree with your Zero kara review especially concerning the MC. THat being saids i disagree about your mahouka mention i beileve that as an anime its levels above this crap and it does many things quite decently.Story and character development is better, and at least explains a few stuff down the process unlike Zero

I agree that the characters in Re:Zero are pretty boring and pretty undeveloped (at least so far), but I don't think Subaru changes character types. He's the same as he was at the beginning of the show really, just when things are going well for him in the first 2 arcs he's shown in a positive light, while in the 3rd arc he's finally getting shit on (even if it's mostly his fault) and his personality is shown in a negative light. He starts off as being overly optimistic, resilient, and protective, and now he's naive, stubborn, and possessive. I think he's a very unlikable protagonist, but that's not necessarily a bad thing

I wouldn't call it a harem either, since only Rem wants his dick atm, and Subaru clearly only has one waifu here.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
