Oh yeah, and I also liked your drawings.
Mashima has actually used more carefully crafted foreshadowing and worldbuilding unlike the scattershot storytelling he used for Fairy Tail. And those characters looking alike...in the end, those similarities were more skin-deep than I realized. Shiki is much kinder and gentler than I noticed, and he even has flashes of emotional intelligence when it comes to dealing with grief. Rebecca still has a little too much in common with Lucy, but she's much more of a go-getter I can respect. And Weisz and Homura...they're simply the best. (Oh, and Elsie is a wonderfully trollish rogue who may or may not have a kickass skull face like that octopus alien copycat of her did. I can see even less of Erza in her than I can see Sieghart in Jellal.)
Those mistakes you (sarcastically) said you wanted to see him repeat are just not nearly as frequent as they were. I'd even say he learned from them; villains aren't accidentally sympathetic due to their motives (some of them are just downright despicable), story arcs feed into the next organically, and character deaths are treated seriously and not undone like they never happened. But if you regret ever reading and giving yourself the impression Hiro Mashima would never amount to anything again (assuming you remember it), I certainly don't, because now I know that among those pervy thoughts of his, he still has some thoughtful and intensely moving stories to tell. EZ is a reminder after the disaster of FT's ending that when he sets his mind to what he wants to write, Mashima isn't really such a bad author at all.
The fan translation by Jaimini's Box sucks ass, though. I'd stick with the official version if I were youc, or at least the one by Sorcerer Weekly.
