Since you are interested in transcendent scenes... I happened upon a scene of Kaizoku Oujo which is worthy of that honor. I only watched the first episode and it was months ago, so it can’t be said I am attached to the series. It is standalone, although it may contain spoilers.

You should finish Evangelion. I know you don't like it but it's like required watching when it comes to anime y'know

True. In fact, most of my favourite songs come from soundtracks. Some of them seem so inseparable from their scenes that while listening to them afterwards I cannot find anything special save the memories associated with them.

Honestly I have not watched Eva, I've just this week learned that it's the predecessor work... that paved way for TTGL to become the way it is. Now Starting to watch Eva along your side sounds interesting. Although do I want to ruin the current uplifting and irrationally positive emotion that I feel right now? I can say the first time ~8y ago the finale shocked me for a couple hours. Really. Now it seems to have changed me. It may sound idiotic, but I sorta want to hang onto it lest I bounce back.

But I think it'll be worth it to exchange our experiences. Don't forget another factor, all creative work and thought is a product of its time. Maybe Evangelion feels out of place today.
