Actually, some years ago I had the same impression, I only watched animated stuff then I delved into the world of non-animated art-house films and found the beauty of it. As I see, you place great importance on the ability of music and shot composition to evoke emotions. That's why I thought you would like something like Challengers (2024). (Btw The Dark Knight is probably my favourite from Nolan; as for Kubrick, I'd go with Eyes Wide Shut any day.)

Hey, I really liked some of your reviews and blog posts (especially the Tomoyo analysis and the genius of MKnR, I hardly ever find "anime fans" who pay so much attention to details). You have an interesting approach to the medium, even if I disagree with you on a lot of things. I wonder what kind of movies do you like (non-animated).

I got the OHHC ref so I went n up but didn't knew you wrote a blog on TTGL until I saw few mentions.

Honestly I have not watched Eva, I've just this week learned that it's the predecessor work... that paved way for TTGL to become the way it is. Now Starting to watch Eva along your side sounds interesting. Although do I want to ruin the current uplifting and irrationally positive emotion that I feel right now? I can say the first time ~8y ago the finale shocked me for a couple hours. Really. Now it seems to have changed me. It may sound idiotic, but I sorta want to hang onto it lest I bounce back.

But I think it'll be worth it to exchange our experiences. Don't forget another factor, all creative work and thought is a product of its time. Maybe Evangelion feels out of place today.
