I rate the whole serie, not the seasons. That's why there's on my list only one rate per anime, it includes all the seasons, movies, OAVs, and extra of the anime. I generaly put the rate on the first season.
This rate can be changed if another seasons or movie come out.
The rate is mostly based on the general enjoyment, but I try my best to keep an objective vision.
That's why I'm rather kind in the rating and it's very rare that I rate a anime under 5/10.
The numbers of episodes influence the rate. The more there are episodes the more it's hard for the anime to maintain good quality over time. So a long show wich keep a good quality have to be rewarded.
Now see the rate as a tier list :
10 => S tier: I enjoyed every minute of every episodes, ticking every aspects I expected, gave me powerfull emotions, unforgettable. 9 => A tier: I enjoyed the anime overall, no bad aspects and a really good experience than I like to remember, will not be forgotten. 8 => B tier: I enjoyed, very few bad aspects and some really good one, good experience overall, will remember most of the show. 7 => C tier: I enjoyed just fine, not too much bad aspects but not really good one either, will likely remember. 6 => D tier: I enjoyed the show but bad on some aspects, shading the overall experience, some memories left. 5 => E tier: I have not enjoyed the show, bad on to many aspects, will be forgotten. 4 => F tier: It is just suffering, bad experience overall, painful to watch.
As long as I watch animes made by professional studios, there is no 1,2,3/10. For me a 3/10 is a show that is amateur, with inexcusable key animation mistake, big dubs problems, technically bungling.
I never saw a professionally made anime with absolutly nothing to save it, there is always at least good characters design, fine animation, good musics or at least a original concept.
