Hi, here's how I rate an anime in a nutshell:
10 - Phenomenal, which is nigh impossible to achieve. Evocative soundtrack, astounding plot, perfect quality animation, and everything else in between. I don't expect any anime would be as impeccable as Jesus Christ to reach this level.
9 - Sublime soundtrack, amazing plot, good animation, steady or unique progression and enjoyable characters. These are the ones which I'll always recommend to others. There would be flaws in some of these traits but not to such a detrimental extent.
8 - Great. It has some flaws, but it's still thoroughly enjoyable. Good and interesting plot, good soundtrack, good animation and whatnot. I will highly recommend some of them that reach this rating as well. Some anime may also gain a higher score due to its soundtrack. Yes, I highly focus on music.
7 - Decent but enjoyable. Not always consistent in each aspect but still good enough to watch it till the end, depending on which aspect the anime's the strongest at might be able to reach here.
6 - Mediocre and there isn't much to ask for from watching it. Clearly at this point, the plot may be problematic and the progression is unsteady.
5 - Borderline. Just an average anime to kill time. The anime wasn't meant to explain everything in terms of plot, little to no character development and it's probably meant to be a spin-off or add-on for the fanbase or franchise. You may be expected to know everything about it before watching it.
4 - Bad. From here till the lowest score, every aspect has problems and it's painful to watch. At this point, I'm watching it for the sake of completion, that is all.
3 - Terrible. It's a nuisance to watch it. Fanservice are normally present and I don't fancy these matters.
2 - Atrocious. Unreasonable scenes everywhere or perhaps this was created solely for fanservice and nothing else. I hate perversion till the point of summoning my Remington.
1 - "Anime Was A Mistake". Whoever made this surely deserves the most honourable and dignified award in human history.
As for manga:
10 - There's no need for explanation. I don't simply read "rubbish" in my free time. I buy physical copies of them if I want to read them.
1 - I did not finish it and I don't know why I bought it.
Go ahead and say that I'm lenient in my ratings, it can't be helped. Anyway, bye.

There's also the muddied moral lesson of "Hey it's not good to live under a name given to you by some strange freak, you have to live on your own name! Don't have a real name? Lemme call you Elen and expect you to live under that name then. Do not question me why I chose Elen." So much BS.
