Hisoka is boss af indeed xD I have many characters that I think make great antagonists, individually in a series. For example, Kaiki Deishuu, solely, makes an incredible antagonist of the Monogatari Series. However, I view Hisoka as the greatest in a great bunch. After all, there is Illumi, Chrollo and Meruem, and they are all amazing antagonists, too :)
The animation is something I've adapted to, which is good. When I see series from something like The Tatami Galaxy all the way to Fate/Zero, it makes it easy to get used to the art. It's usually just the initial impressions that have me curious and/or hesitant. This kinda acts in response to your last paragraph, too. David Production sure were surprising. To be honest, I became a JoJo fan during the air time of Stardust Crusaders, so I didn't get to have the same reaction as other people had in regards to David Production mastering Parts 1 & 2 xD However, I saw a bit of SC and I will see all future parts of JoJo be adapted :P
Well, you know, Funny Valentine is great and is quite an impressive character, but Kira has this concerning, yet sort of natural outlook on things. Also, you saw that severed arm close to the end of the episode, heh. Good ol' Kira is responsible for that :P He's kinda crazy, but calm. Ahh, it's difficult to explain, but you'll see what I mean when you see his character. His Stand is boss. Dio was great, indeed. Even Diego from Part 7 is damn incredible xD Ahh, yea, of course, Joseph Joestar is hands-down the best JoJo xD I really like Johnny Joestar and Josuke, too, though xD Also, Jolyne turned out to be damn incredible :P Her Stand is pretty damn cool to watch :P
Heh, the next Stands are quite something. Of course, like I said, Rohan Kishibe's Stand is interesting to watch. Also, the Cinderella Stand is somewhat creepy, at least in my opinion. I do think the more creative combat Stands are the better, such as Hanged Man and Geb (as you said before), but I also really like the Stands that aren't combat-related. DIU shows off quite well what Stands can do. And OMG the alien guy, I just remembered! Ahahaha, well, he is a banterous character! xD
Well, I didn't say that just for the sake of saying the one I prefer, but because I have seen a fair correlation in this case. Of course, it's the minority that do make these links and dislike one. However, because Death Note uses the art and genres that people are already accustomed to liking, Death Note is seen as the show that they want to see. Like, it appears as the perfect series for them, genre-wise, at least. However, Code Geass is a very experimental series, and it is seen to have more risk; they fear they will love it or they fear they will hate it. Of course, in the case of Death Note, once someone gets comfortable with the anime, showing what it did right, they are skeptical about moving to the more experimental series. As for Code Geass fans, the viewership knows that there isn't an anime that can be perfect; that anime can be well-rounded off in a complete constructed product, like FMA:B, or experimental and risky in design, such as Steins;Gate. This is all my view, of course. So, it doesn't mean what I am saying is right or wrong. It's just what I believe. It all depends on if you trust my belief.
I personally really like space anime, as I watched a lot of space operas and random sci-fi series when I was quite young. It's natural to have some preferred genres, of course. But as you know, hating a single anime based on genre is when it just gets quite ridiculous. I never do that because I don't want to risk missing out on a potentially amazing series. Art style is an individual quality of the series, yes. However, adapting to the art is a good way to do things. It might take work to adapt to the art style of a certain anime. After all, watching through the same kinda laid-back series that are eye candy will lead you into a cycle, and nothing new is brought to the table. So, for me, I like being introduced to an art style that I could possibly dislike. That way, I can adapt to it and expand my taste and enjoy the individual series better. Unless, of course, the actual art does prevent the story-telling or character-design from being displayed properly. I can't think of an example right now, but there have been a couple of series where the art style actually prevents the characters from properly expressing themselves. Ahh, wait, an example is Gundam ZZ. It is quite cringy :P
If you wish to change any of these topics, or drop them, then feel free xD
At first, when you quoted me, I was like "Did my sentence not make sense or something?", then I actually looked at what you wrote next to it xD
Aye, I only intend to re-watch the canon episodes of RK :) It's on both Netflix and Crunchyroll here, so I can watch it whenever I want with ease. When I first watched RK, I was about 5 or 6, and I must say I found Shishio to be quite scary (however, I didn't find The Laughing Man or Individual Eleven in GITS: SAC to be scary...). Ahhh, Enishi, yes, the guy that I always thought looked like an older Killua wearing Leorio's shades xD I do agree, though, that Shishio's design is better, even though it did scare me when I was younger.
DIU is my second favourite JJBA part, and coincidentally happens to be the second most-liked JJBA part on MAL, too. So, it looks like the people of MAL like the same parts, which is good xD Although, something about DIU's animation... it looks less JoJo-like. I don't exactly know how to describe it; it looks somewhat minimal, like someone made it in about a third of the time. Ayeee, the announcement of Gintama (2015) was incredible xD Now look how it's #1 xD I was predicting it to have at least a moderate rating drop, a bit like ERASED did, but then it basically remained where it is, at 9.33. Hell yes to HxH manga continuing! The day before the announcement, I was actually complaining to one of my friends that throughout 2015, there were no HxH chapters. Kira is, in my opinion, alongside Funny Valentine, the best antagonist of JoJo xD His Stand is pretty amazing, but he as a character is unmatched! Also, Josuke is quite a good JoJo. I much prefer Josuke to Jotaro, too.
Well, damn, you listed the best of the enemy Stands there, too xD SC did focus more on pure combat Stands, but Geb and Hanged Man showed the peak of combat Stands and the level of creativity in those. The WORLD is obviously great, and when I first went through JJBA, I wasn't much of a fan of Star Platinum, because of the direct advantage it has in combat, and because it evolved. However, the evolution of Stands is then explained in part 4 and is shown quite well with one of the main character's Stand evolving xD
The Stands for DIU are amazing, and are focused less on combat, or at the very least focused on indirect combat. Ones such as Harvest, in which the Stand checks through the sewers and tunnels and small places and collects coins, which then adds up to a large amount, basically making them slightly rich xD Another is Super Fly, which is actually a Stand that is active in a specific area, rather than linked to a person. This Stand prevents a person from leaving the area of a radio tower. It's all very interesting to watch. Also, Rohan Kishibe's Stand is great for a main character xD
Hmm, Code Geass' visuals are indeed different to the norm. For me, I was used to the strange range of art styles like Monogatari, JJBA, LoGH, TTGL etc. so Code Geass was a breeze to watch. Many don't start it from the art style, in which, although I understand, anyone can adjust to the art style, if you give the show time. Also, it is commonly compared to Death Note. The only thing that is similar "They are both strategical masterminds which have an incredible power with distinct weaknesses; trying to obtain their goals". I recommend that you do not compare any more than that. Many who watch Death Note first have a higher chance of disliking Code Geass than if one who watches Code Geass first watches Death Note. That's something I found out by the way. Code Geass is quite easily an innovative anime in the fact that it also, like TTGL, grabs people's interests in some genres or art styles that they would have otherwise avoided. I personally recommend Code Geass as a series with a lot of momentum and purpose; action, sci-fi, supernatural etc. Of course, I can't guarantee you'll like it, but I do hope you at least give it plenty of time. It is a series that is worth it xD
On a similar topic, my top 13, as you can see in the mosaic, are the kind of series in which no-one questions that I have a variety of series placed in there. Of course, I have things like Death Note, Uchuu Kyoudai, Monogatari, Fate/Zero, which not everyone will like all of these. I have watched many of the highs of each genre, as I like shows by individual quality, rather than genre or art etc. :)
I hope we can get along :)
It's quite amazing to see that someone who's seen only a small amount of anime likes most of the same stuff I do xD
Of course, Gintama and One Piece. HxH and JoJo, too :)
Also, you even like Rurouni Kenshin, which is great xD
I really need to re-watch the anime for that. It was the 4th anime I ever watched (Gintama was the 5th), and I really liked it, but then it went into filler in the last few episodes, so it became a bit more meh. So, the manga was the way to go xD
It looks like you haven't gone through any of the manga for JJBA, but I assume you'll be watching through Diamond is Unbreakable? It'll be interesting to know what Stands you like. I'm curious as to who Kira's VA will be xD
