Let's see...I'll tell you what might or might not be similar between us, anime-wise!
I love sports and slice-of-life anime, besides all the popular, top animes. And who doesn't like comedy, though I do have a thing for gags & parodies and the light-hearted stuff. Moe is sweet but I have only seen 'em in slice-of-life genre. I also like mystery and psychological anime very much; especially those that bring one's brains to one's toes. And if put right, gore can be pretty fun too!
Well if it's good, I can pretty much like any genre. Same goes for mangas.
And don't go on my favorites list. I don't bias to make any of them permanent. I replace them every time I find something of equivalent awesomeness!

I speak good enough Japanese 😎 Explanation: I have watched so many subbed animes that I understand those often-used one-word sentences to the extent that I involuntarily say them in my mind. Words like Kussoo! Or Shimata! Or Nani!? Or Iye Iye Or Ame ka? Or Kawaii! Or Najakorya! Or Shikshou!! Or Yabai!! Or Tonigaku Or Ma Ika, etc. which I believe will help me survive in Japan which is probably not true

If you're wondering what TheFlowingStream is, no it's not a native American name I've given myself :-P That's the meaning of my real name (^,^) So try guessing it if you can. I'll give you a hint: It's also a bird, a natural satellite and a Greek goddess!!(^.^)
One thing to know is that I take scoring/rating an anime very seriously.
◘ I judge them based partly on the story and plot which is always a major factor since the story/plot, more than anything, be it anime, manga, series, movies, novels, is what matters
◘ But mostly I judge them based on the feels I get like the jokes, thrills, horror, rush, calmness, etc. (it all depends from anime to anime) [this is important for an anime with no story]
◘ How I felt by the end of the anime - a good or bad ending or plain nothing could affect the score depending on the magnitude to which I was "affected" (T_T) but!! I keep in mind whether the anime deserved more or less despite my feelings.
Basically I let my Heart and Brain thumb-wrestle over the scores to see who wins ^^
◘ Animation quality is not a bother to me. But I do admire the latest animation styles. For mangas, old and/or sucky drawings can be a bit annoying to see; to such extent that I could drop 1 point. I LoVe those mangas with detailed art though!
◘ Sometimes, an anime may be more than a certain score, but not as much as the next number. Thus, I maintain a [¼,½,¾,1] distribution system. (Well it's less a system and more of me just typing these scores in the 'Tags' section where you can type stuff -_-)
◘ I do not follow the "distribution system" for mangas cozzz........laziness :-P
◘ Good ideas but poor execution of the same is not taken well
◘ Really good soundtracks could increase the score
◘ I always appreciate a good attempt at whatever they tried to attempt
[ As you can see, I am also part-OCD!]
But if I truly loved the anime/manga from the bottom of my heart then it's a 10/10 ♥
(Okay, this wasn't so freaky. Crazy maybe)
I also watch a lotta movies & series, read novels, play videogames (I love love love the Batman Arkham series), I love music of every genre♪, pretend that I spend enough time on my social life.......just the usual ya know ;-P
If only there were sites like MAL❤ to Organize all this!
I've come back after nearly 4 years........no anime for so long......what are all these new shows (looks like shoujo romance mangas are still the same)......I wonder what kids are watching these days.....
Gawd I wrote such silly stuff on my Bio when I was young!
You know I used to check out MAL everyday.....now I guess time has turned me into a *cough "Responsible Adult" *cough
But during this hiatus, I often always have had days where I would remember this world of anime ♥ Whenever I remembered, it felt like home and I knew that I could never get bored of this ^_^
Yah, I Hope till next year everyone gets vaccinated, but I have decided to take vaccine in the end only maybe when govt makes it mandatory.

Even I discovered Chinese Anime recently, and most of them are about cultivation and almost every series is on-going. I usually prefer animes which are already finished arriving.
