Yo, Rev! Hope you are doing well, my friend.

> Update your 400th anime milestone!

I'm one of those weirdos who only counts the TV series that I complete. :3

My lists says that number is at 331; still a ways to go before number 400!

Yo, ReV!

> ...Saekano S2, ESPECIALLY THE LAST EPISODE, please make sure you have something to put you back in a good mood again. The way it ended...

Oh, no! It sounds like Saekano didn't go somewhere favorable. :(

I'll keep your advice in mind when I eventually get around to finishing it (which will be in a few months).

> Sorry for being this vague, I guess I have to vent my frustration with the show.

Vent away!

It's a good idea to occasionally release some pent-up emotions (in a safe manner) every now and again.

If nothing else, we have the next anime season right around the corner to cheer ya up again. :)

Hope you have been well, ReV!

Ya I haven't enjoyed the second season of Saekano as much as the first. I did read what has been translated/summarized from the LNs to see where it goes from here. It does get a bit more interesting, but I think the best content is in the beginning. The MC and Kato do get more development, though I still wasn't feeling the MC too much. I feel like the other characters are underutilized.

Can't think of anything similar to Saekano that does it better, so I suggest you fill that hankering you've got for a good harem with a heavy dose of romance drama. Go watch Nana. You've put it off for long enough.

Ya the new Danmachi is bad, and every episode I ask myself why I'm still watching. The action is okay-ish so it makes for a barely amusing turn your brain off and half-way watch while doing other things. Only a couple episodes left tho, so I'll finish the season.

But yeah that time could definitely be spent on better anime. I'll probably pick up Tsuki ga Kirei since I've been seeing a fair amount of praise for it.

Got any other suggestions?

It was just really unappealing in regards to what I tend to enjoy. Like it's legit one of the most boring shows I've ever watched.
I also disliked the directing style, not my cup of tea at all.

I'm fairly certain Amanchu was my favorite anime from last season...and also the only one I've yet to finish! I don't want it to be over!

I had the same problem as you for the first few episodes...way too much "Pikari face" for the first few episodes and it was harshing my mellow. A little goes a long way with those deadpan faces, so I was glad to see the Pikari face get dialed back after the first few episodes. I even came to enjoy those faces, along with almost everything else about the series. The atmosphere is beyond soothing and the characters are wonderful on their own and have fantastic chemistry together.

Glad I stuck with Amanchu, because I likely would have dropped it if this had just been just any other anime...but Amanchu is an Amano work, the Goddess mangaka who created the Aria series, which I'm sure you've heard much about...probably almost all positive.

I can't stress enough that the Aria series is required viewing for anyone who enjoys SOL, particularly Iyashikei(healing) series. It took me awhile to get through Aria the Animation, the single cour first series, because it's a bit rougher than the sequel series and you have to be in the right mood for the calm, soothing amosphere. Then I stalled towards the middle of the 2 cour sequel Aria the Natural despite the increase in quality, but eventually sped through the second cour and into The Origination, which is now easily one of my all-time favorite anime. Finishing The Origination gave me one of the worst cases of Post-anime depression I've had in a long long time. I go back and watch certain episodes from The Origination from time to time, just like I do with K-On.

Since you enjoyed Amanchu so much, you definitely need to put Aria Series as a high priority PTW, especially if you're in the mood for that soothing atmosphere and wonderful character dynamics you got from Amanchu. It also has a lot of the same humor, including those deadpan faces, although I feel Aria utilizes them better. Also, because Aria is a much longer series, it has more time to fully develop all of its characters and their relationships with each other. It also does a good deal of world-building for its fantasy setting and ties this back to the character development as they search for their place in this world. This gets you increasingly attached to both the characters and the world itself the longer you watch, making it so very difficult to let go by the end of The Origination.

Well that reply really got away from me. Just started typing and couldn't stop!

> Damnit Banjo, didn't you notice today (in my timezone it isn't anymore) is my birthday!? Baka!

Happy (belated) birthday, ReV!!!

I hope it was filled with fun and family and happiness. :)

> Isn't that what girls do normally? Or did Anime teach me wrong.

No way. Anime is *always* right. :P

Sarcasm aside, I do agree with the obstructed view everyone seems to have with H!E. I love yuri, and I love it being (partially) in H!E. But it always appears that the majority of people who follow the series are more concerned with their relationship as opposed to the meaning/importance/execution of the anime in general.

Will have to wait and see if that changes or not the further along the show goes....

> Nice to see you give Rakugo a 10.

I went back and forth on it for a while, but, in the end, it was without a doubt the most "objectively" strong anime I have ever seen (besides Chu2Koi/Ren, of course ;)). It even made me compare it to other anime in general, which is something I *never* do while reviewing (save for a sequel or other show in the series). So I gave it that 10/10 to solidify my new perception of the medium going forward.

I.e., expect me to be (slightly) harsher with anime forevermore! :3

> I wanted the story of the out of prison guy instead of the backstory of mr sensei.

Thankfully, Yotaro (should? I have no idea...) will be the focus for the continuation/sequel/final season with Bon (probably? Still no idea...) taking on more of a supporting role. Whatever happens, though, it will be very interesting to see how the anime fully finishes!!!

Edit: Phrasing!

Hey, Rev! Sorry about getting to this later. :3

> ...did you also think that the ice skating choreography wasn't really that smooth and the lateral movement of the camera didn't really help with much?

The movements and orientations that were shown in the skating were quite complex. That's just the nature of ice skating itself. Meaning, for what was given and what was shown, I was impressed. Was it *perfect*? I don't believe so. But the entire performance -- with the twirls, the shifts, and the various arm extensions -- had a lot of care put into it.

> ...the tone shifts were similar as well.

They were!

I'm wondering myself if it is or is going to be an issue. Have to watch it a bit more before making a definitive decision.

> I'm a sucker for people who share their passion with others and seeing them enjoy it.

That's something we can agree on! :)

> The runtime for the first episode of Eupho.

And like most good anime, it went by way too quickly. :P

> Seeing Kumiko's silly faces and cute sounds again brings a smile to my face.

Same!

But man am I peeved by KyoAni's extra-blatant yuri-bating. They are totally doing it on purpose at this point, so, if this second season doesn't end with her and Reina entering into a romantic relationship together, I am going to be slightly perturbed! >:(

> WHY ARE WE YELLING EACH OTHER'S NAMES!!!?

Because it's fun. :D

> ...I won't support MAL in any shape or form until...

That's fair.

I figured that it was just the 30 bucks for the whole year. Which, combined with the other wins I mentioned, made it a "Why not?" decision. :3

> I hope you'll enjoy New Game! and Amanchu...

I hope I do, too!

I am only three episodes in for both of them. While I don't find NG! to be much in terms of substance, that doesn't take away from how cute and fun the show is. And Amanchu is such a feel-good anime. Food, family, and friends -- what's not to like? :P

> I dropped Mob Psycho since I got utterly bored and wasn't at all interested in the premise.

I'm still only three episodes in for that one as well, but I was feeling the same. Not super impressed with it from the get-go. But a lot can change in nine episodes! But that will be for a couple of months from now....

> We have Yuru Yuri Euphonium to look forward to in Autumn. :D

KyoAni has the chance to make its fanbase go bananas. Will the yuri come to fruition? We must wait and see! :3

> Otherwise Autumn Season looks rather dull...

I will admit, it does look not-too-strong. At least compared to the rest of this year. But, as always, it's best not to judge a book by its cover. The first few "chapters" in the form of my Should You Watch It? thread is a-okay, though. :3

As for what I am looking forward to, I am keeping my eye on 3-gatsu no Lion, Fune wo Amu, and Yuri on Ice. Regardless of what happens, it will be intriguing to see how these all shape up and where they eventually go!
BanjoTheBear Sep 22, 2016 6:51 PM
ReV!!!

> You're a MAL supporter? Ehhh!? You're such a weirdo, Banjo.

Ha! Yes, I am -- and proud of it!!!

I saw it somewhere (either on another profile or when looking up MAL), and I liked how it made the profile look "professional." Plus, it gets rid of all of the obnoxious ads everywhere, AND I get to support this website which I use on a daily basis.

It's a win, win, win, ReV. That's a lot of wins! :P
