Borderline or medium-budget games in the future would good for me. I hope that Armed Fantasia, the new Wild Arms, will that next best franchise. If successful enough, then maybe we'll get an anime that we've never seen before. We don't usually see a lot of things neo-western since the movie Logan came out. Not even new neo-western with steampunk elements.
It's OK for neo-western to lack in market saturation though, but it would help to give an unconventional story like that of Wild Arms 2 proper translation (had to learn Japanese arduously for that and Silent Möbius volumes 9-12 before I could explore it's sequel QD from a decade ago). Those old Sony translations always ruining the moment and we're lucky some horrible translation didn't kick in when there was trouble between that main young couple. That is, Ashley and his only girl Marina. Marina not Lilka and Lilka while showing some great comic relief is too young for Ashley who is almost an adult.
So yes Ressey, Arc The Lad has a lot of interesting themes and narrative. Lieza in part three was nice enough to let Alek and his possee of drifters crash in her monster ranch (more hoarding of monsters than in the Tecmo franchise Monster Rancher) so I won't get ripped off constantly by that same innkeeper. Should charge kids less for accommodations and sadly for accommodations in real life, it's also expensive (very difficult to crash in any hotel without getting ripped off).
As for Japanese, I'm still studying that language even though I read that old yet unconventional cyberpunk manga.
Other unconventional cyberpunk that I'll delve later into is either Tokyo Ghost, Private Eye or Transmetropolitan. None of which that have stock antagonists or similar neon gritty nights in the rain that people find really horrendous. Tokyo Ghost so far is more like Steins;Gate and Dot Hack than Blade Runner so definitely something worth reading for novelty. It's theme is exploring the consequences of untested experiments and virtual reality.
As we can see, technology should never be taken that lightly. The digital or non-analog stuff. The idea of autonomous AI also sounds pretty frightening.
Why build machines in the future that would attack people?
Hopefully, machines or AI will stay designed with ethical considerations in mind. Last thing I want is machines causing a cataclysm instead of taking future earthlings to deep space and helping them survive.
Have you been studying Japanese too and what do you think of Arc The Lad?
I'm a big yuri fan as well, so why wouldn't I request? ;-)
