"Modern love story" done "right".
A boring middle-school love story like this doesn't charm me.
The style of this series is totally different from the general idea of anime out there. Not trying to sound cool or elite here, just pointing out this is one of those anime which is not exactly everyone's cup of tea.
I'm just hoping it won't take a common plot like you describe. Chaos is all I'm hoping for. From the art-style to story settings, this series yarns for total chaos.
The next chapter can give us a good view of whether this manga will take a good turn or not. Or probably I'm totally wrong about this and the manga will prove to be a wild unpredictable ride. I will at least give a few more chapters to decide about it.
And yeah, the frog and owl part doesn't feel quite fulfilling to me either.
That said, the first 3 chapters felt really great, the story is gripping. Hopefully the story will unique (and not another copy of other similar stories like Parasyte, Tokyo Ghoul etc.).
