I judge all anime by three factors:
(Direction): Does the anime have any interesting style, themes, or presentation? Does it play safe or go for something unique?
(Entertainment): Does the anime hold my attention? Is it fun schlock, or something genuinely enthralling?
(Consistency): Does the anime remain true to its direction or abandon it? Is it consistently engaging or does it go through periods of mediocrity?
10: A masterclass in direction, consistency, and entertainment. There is no perfection, but this is as close as it gets.
9: Superb, miles ahead of the competition with few flaws holding it back. Has qualities that elevate it beyond the sum of its parts.
8: A great show that’s deserving of your time with some notable blemishes, but none that hamper the overall experience.
7: A good show that has a concerning amount of flaws, but one I would still easily recommend.
6: A decent show with flaws difficult to ignore and has me yearning for more, but overall I enjoyed and would recommend with warning.
5: Middle of the road show that either does little well, or botches its ideas to the point of mediocrity. If you're only looking to pass the time, it's not the worst decision.
4: A bad show that I have trouble recommending. A few promising elements is not enough to save mostly poor execution.
3: An atrocious show with so little done right that you’re better off forgetting it exists, not even worth making fun of.
2: Abysmal, almost as excruciating as watching the New York Knicks.

While they are different, they have some similarities. Of course, I definitely think that Monogatari does all the similarities much better.
