Indeed! Well, we all can agree that the whole 2020 was not kind of many of us. I'm in the same page. At last im hanging in there haha. Hope you did as well. I havent progresed much since last year, but I hope at least you did.
Oh btw it seems like youre one of the victims of my friendlist purge. I thought you went inactive so...
Xeleton Jan 31, 2021 2:18 PM
oh hey Remainingecho! Its been forever!! Ive been... fine? haha. How bout you?
Xeleton Nov 9, 2019 11:45 AM
'meh' ... is it because its hard? or its not interesting enough? or do you have any diffrent reasons for that? My elder scientist advisor mode activated! I suck as a teacher, but I might be good? with advices with my experiences haha.
I also recently lost myself in diffrent kind of gaming. Every heard of cash grap phone gatcha games? Yep. Its really enjoyable, but time consuming haha. I just hope that new pokemon games have nice story, just like B1/W1.

As I entered science world and saw other people are doing, Ive realized that im not talented or clever at all, at least compared to the people in the science world. Some(actually most) of theese people dedicate their lives to science, maybe have no other activity/being social. Ive seen some people accomplished almost same as me but 3-4 years younger than me, that should tell me something. hehe, appreciate the LUCK!, I would say I dont believe in luck, but right now I wanna get everything I can. What can I send you back in return?
Damn I've just realized I havent been watching anime for almost a month now... I should stop watching random youtube videos in my free time LOL

thank you! and no biggie!
My birthday went surprisingly good. I think I probably had most tastiest b.day cake of my life. I dont think I can eat sweets for few days now :D

You should take things easy. Its still only your first year right? I remember being very very excited, nerveous, trembling when I entered lab for the first time for easy experiments haha. As I said before, everything takes time, you need to learn alot to be independent/feel self-confident. But to be honest, no matter what time period i was in... science was annoying, and made me remember how hard it is constantly.
I realized that we'we talked about science/me so much haha. In fact, how you feel about your studies atm? Do you feel pressured/bored/annoyed? Does it affect your daily life? Also you havent been watching anime like me lately huh... thats a shame.

As I said before, also im very embrassed to say it, none. For 3 years all I did was being able to synthesize modified nanoparticles (a year took for synthesizing nanosize and being able to manage to chemically modify it), one year for photocatalytic purposes as I explained before, and last year for thesis purposes and science article I wrote about my current work(its being processed atm). If I had more talented advisors, and maybe if I were clever/talented, things mightve been diffrent, but I'm still proud of what I archieved.
Therefore, I want to abandon nanoparticles and brach out to the nanorobots/capsules, but I dont know where to start yet.

I honestly choose chem. engineering because I had no idea what to do, and from chem. engineering you can find lotsa variable jobs soo.. it was a good choice haha. Took time to get used to it? hahaha, i was literally one of the worst students in my class, and barely managed to graduate, (with 2,52 score out of 4. total, 2.50 is required to graduate) I became more serious about my studies after M.Sc. Even tho i was a bit of a failure, i still remember my chem. engineer study and apply it on my current studies. I didnt like chem. engineering, because I felt I wasnt capable of studying it, my brain just couldnt handle it. The main reason for that would be because I couldnt do lab thingies/creativity/experiments myself, I was more free in my M.Sc studies, so I felt more like a scientist, I liked it.
LOL, I was the one who initiated the nerd talk, so I dont mind questions. Also its fine if youre busy, actually, it would be weird if you were free all the time haha. Science is not easy.

My holiday has ended and now hard marathon starts! The job applications! hah, I might feel depressed if I dont find a job soon etc, but I feel like eventually I will do great things in the future.
(In truth, I just wanna go back to swimming while its still warm, but I guess my conscience wouldnt allow it haha) Is is kinda cold there atm? Ive heard that scandnavian summer is quite hot tho :o

Haha, I woulda liked to boast my nanoscience studies, but honestly, thats all I did in general. I was planning to do more (such as sensors) but nanoscience is very very very expensive method that requries expensive materials and expensive analysis machines. My dream to create nanorobots that enhances human capabilities. Of course, im not talking about cyborgs or anything... since they are NANO sized, the person would look just the same :D
Xeleton Oct 12, 2019 5:31 AM
yes, I started chem. engineering because I wanted to have a good job, simple stable life, not with my current feelings. Nanotech appeared after I graduated from uni. After getting rejected from even a simple low paying job, I started to think myself 'I deserve better'. Then started to study for nanotech exam(for the uni im getting in-master program. chem eng. was bachelors). Nanotechnology has also very wide applications as it can find any work in every enviroment. My secondary reason for choosing nanotech is same as yours(job change, easy job etc), bur my main reason is still the same... challange the 'science', make change in the world, as hard as nanotech life is, im psychologically statisfied when I can study further.
Why are you feeling hopeless btw?

I didnt share those links and game titles so that you can take a look at them all :D I just wanted to share my nerdy feelings about games. Not many people understand those terms means or even interested in it. So it was nice to talk those with you. It was also lengty because im in a short holiday atm :D so I have time. I'm at my summer house and its mildly warm, still enjoying swimming. (the sea is cold compared to summer tho).

Xeleton Oct 7, 2019 6:24 AM
Which stories/novels made me interested? Oh boy... here we go. Get ready for NERD talk

Haha I hope you managed to read em all while understanding most part. I just wanted to be completely transparent about my answer. Trying to tell my point of view to a future scientist. Was there any other specific reason you didnt mention why youve chosen biotech? or was it the only obvious choice as studying?

aaah must be so good, my brother didnt like animes much :/ I dont have companion to watch anime with. Ive managed to make my friend watch some mainstream animes but he was not interested that much in animes.
My current thesis work focuses on a nanoparticle when it can clean itself with water, while also %99 effectively cleaning the product from unwanted organics. (the process is called photocatalytic process). since its effectiveness is high, it requres only 1/10 of the water normally required. Which makes significant improvement on saving water. From my studies, I can see that water is wasted so much! If we can save water, we can preserve the nature! Even my name means 'Nature-Life'... gotta live up to it :D

I think my escape from reality was watching comedy shows and animes for me. Even my interest in science/nanoscience came from watching animes/reading sci-fi visual novels. I live in İzmir, Turkey. Basicly very close place to western popular beaches(where our summer house is in), is just hour away by car. In winter, its not that cold, I assume coldest temperature you get it around here -3. Its totally acceptable in mid-winter. Of course, I dont go there if I have a job, even small, coz I never do a job there XD I think 'wishing for unique days' is common thinking of a scientist, we wanna encounter unique things so we became a scientist. Scientist life is all repeat sometimes :/ Actually its more than sometimes. But it feels really good when you invent something, create a formula yourself, I archieved this feeling after 5 years of studying... so it might take time.
Thank you! I also look forward to learning from your experiences.

I usually watch only 12-24 episode animes. I hear that some long running good animes, but I never feel good about starting them. The last long one I finished was Naruto and that was more than 5 years ago. What about you? Yes, thats also why I love space ... 'inviolated'. As a person who lived in a city for a long time, I appreciate the nature and natural order. I literally get angry when people pollute the world when they could avoided that.

yahoo! I knew you would understand me as a fellow scientist! Experimenting is always good!
Also me:

youre making correct decision, as I also live in a city. I sometimes go to my family's summer house even in mid-winter. Calmness, change of scenery is always great for mental health. I can relate to your feelings on that part. I wonder if I'm suited to be teacher also, I actually helped as an assistant on my advisors lab class, I befriended lotsa uni students, learned so much from them while teaching. Then my advsior after the class is like... 'so, which student is good/bad? you should not befriend your students'. and I was like 'why should I gossip about them? they are nice students'. She replied saying that I will never be a good teacher. I mean, they are legit university students! why treat them as retards right? oh whoops, blabbered too much on this ugly topic again.
Its really important to study alot in the beginning, then I assume youll enjoy your time alot when you apply really good ideas in the lab with the things you learn.

When I search for animes, I usually search for animes with score 8+ on MAL then check every anime description(from advanced anime search-also filtering genres), first reviews, then episode numbers. Lately, it really worked as I watched some old legends from anime 2004 to 2010. Planetes is very slow paced, episodic, but since it was about Space, I didnt mind all that. I love space.

'let us hope'.... NOOO! Why you have so little faith in me! Looking all those males in dancer costumes were for research purposes! I am just...
Xeleton Oct 5, 2019 11:13 AM
oh yea. I also had lotsa hard time with labs/exams. They were time consuming alot. But listen to me on this, I think those boring chores/repetivive things made me very careful person in the lab, also 'indirectly' very knowledgeable, a retarded thing I've learned from random conversation in uni saved my thesis legit :D
In my opinion, the most annoying thing is having a retarded advisor, as a scientist, we should be free as possible. I hope your teachers are great as youve said. How are you feeling atm?

I'm watching Planetes and its really nice Space slice of life/romance kind of anime. Its kinda unique and I liked it. I'm also reading manga that I have passed before. I wonder when I will get bored of all theese :D Do they give you lotsa homeworks to keep your weekends busy btw?

Best thing you can do is, you can try to make every male character a dancer and see how they look :D Therion in dancer suit looks sooo kawaiii :D (no, I'm not a weirdo! baka) Most stories were disney like, but I appreciate some final fantasy style adventure. Now that I think about it, I think the most 'deep' story was Alfyn's.... even though it seemed simple, that was the most meaningful one.
Xeleton Sep 30, 2019 2:04 PM
I hope I gave your 'corruption' answer or what I've meant. I also thought everything was great because when I was a normal student, everyone was so helpful/teaching. But things change when I tried to pursue academic career, maybe those people saw me as rivals :D But enough of the ugly topic, this doesnt change the fact that I love science, discovery, experimenting, labs. What I can do is to improve myself with what I have learned so far. Haha sure, my research might bring me to other places to learn further. Hows it for you? Have you experienced how awesome experimenting things is?

oh yeah haha. Until I find a good path, I think I will have some free time. I'm trying to watch all those animes/visual novels that I have passed because I was busy. I'm actually similiar to you on that regard as well, I never start new series when I'm busy with other things, my mind has to be free if I wanna start watching anime. At worst, I will just keep haunting you :D

I tried to be secretive when I replied to you because I thought you havent finished it yet, so youre safe haha. I think that made you more excited to play it. I've had 2 main parties, 1 magic team (Cyrus,Primrose,Ophilia,Alfyn for heal and tank), and martial team (Olberic, Hanit, Tressa, Therion). Sadly with job changes the game doesnt have replayability value but I might play again after few years. Those soundtracks were great, especially Primrose theme.

For example, as a nanoscience student, I researched coatings, optic improvements of nanoparticles. All theese research could result in 4-5 diffrent research papers but only resulted in 2... because I am under obligation of my advisor. I cannot freely research or share my thoughts because anyone can steal my work/research(a professor stole my idea and published a diffrent paper, he was just visiting me asking questions here and there like a good person lol). Even if you are very successful in academic life, if you dont lick the boots of your superior, you wont evolve. If you want to survive, you gotta be a slave to hirearchy system in university. I was disgusted and couldnt handle it haha. By 'identity' i meant to be a unique person in the world. I want to leave a mark in this world as a person, I dont wanna become normal society worker like go work, go home, do same things everyday. Hopefully I can keep researching :D
Thats a noble goal, thinking about the world. I have similiar thoughts, I want to make a diffrence. If things like biotech/nanoscience becomes worldwide and cheap, things about the world might seem easier to fix dont you think?

haha, sure. Its nice to hear that youve watching them so soon. Cant wait to converse about it. My haunt is not that scary actually, I just become a bit more friendly. I dont mind which one you'll start first, both of them are great. Although Shiki is my personal favorite, but the first few episodes might be boring.

I actually finished the game yesterday. Unlike the other bosses, the final boss was actually hard! I had to think-analyze, and I was glad that I saved up so much crucial recovery items. Overall stories were average but Olberic's story was impressed me the most, because at first it started so boring. My top 3 stories would be Olberic,Alfyn and Primrose. Cyrus is there just because he is awesome. The game has also great town themes such as theese

4 years of uni, then after 3 years of M.Sc really wore me down actually, I am literally tired of academic life (with its corruptions). I think I will try working in a company, preffered researcher haha. I might to my Ph.D after years though. 'Why science?' haha thats a deep long question. Basicly, I wanted to have my own identity. Since I was a child, I couldnt stand out because people around me always better in every category, math, art, music, social activities, brains... whatever you can think of. I felt like I was 'no one'. Nanoscience hovewer, gives me a unique approach to the world because I invent something that has not been existed, that was one way of dealing with uneasiness I've felt since I was a child, plus you brag alot and no one understands so they think youre a genious or something :D I am not a genious or anything, but nanoscience/invention gives me happiness and motivation. Whats your story?

I didnt feel like Shiki was horror or scary anime when I watched it. It does have gore elements though. I was 22 when I watched it, so ... yeah. I guess it becomes watchable when you get older, cant imagine how I would feel if I was 13 or something. Psycho-pass is a must-watch like Shiki IMO, I would make a friend watch it, haunt them forever until they watch it haha. Im curious on what you think about it.

LOL! Even I didnt imagine that we would think this similiar... maybe thats how scientists work? Octopath traveler was fresh air in gaming for me. It was hard to get used to it but im having lotsa fun atm, I think im close to the ends (60 hours of gameplay in) and loving the Divine Skill and unlimtied combinations. Cyrus is my favorite character there, I can relate to him in so many ways haha.

It’s time to ditch the text file.
