I like anime..... normals would say WAY too much... I say i wish i had more time in the day when they say this. Hmmmm... My favourite genre of anime is Romance/Ecchi so if you are a fan of those be sure to check out my ratings, if you haven't already watched any of the anime rated 9/10, I highly recommend you put them to the top of your "schedule".
I'm a lolicon... I'm just... joking... ha... its OK if its just asking them call me Aniki or onii-chan?... shhhhh dont call the police lol <3
My favourite food is Duck Ramen, favourite song is an anime intro, favourite plant/animal is a Sakura tree, and favourite country is... well by asking yourself what do all of these have in common you will figure out the answer (Japan... baka).
First time ""cried"" watching an anime: Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso- episode 009... first time i have been on the floor crying me eyes out would be Koe no Katachi if you have seen this movie you probably know what scene I'm talking about... mixed between kinda postive and WTF no pls dont.
All anime ratings are based upon entertainment for their specific genre... e.g. a 9 rated romance could be better than a 10 rated comedy. All ratings are also dependent on when i have watched them so my feelings of them will vary over time (When i first started watching anime i gave away ratings easily... i still kinda do :P but an 8 rated from half a year ago could be significantly worse than an 8 from yesterday).
Favourite songs/music: FMA ED1, FMAB OP1, Fuuka OP1(Climbers High), Psycho pass OP1, Aoi Sora, Noragami OP/ED1

It doesn't matter that I'm grouping shows from different genres in this context when I'm literally just saying "you claim I hate all these kinds of popular, well-received anime but I can name a bunch that I gave positive and negative scores for cuz I think they're good and bad respectively" and then I listed them. Genre was never part of this discussion. I heavily disagree that Re:Zero is an objectively good anime thanks to how it handles those themes discussed in the review, and with how little personality the characters have. Also, so you ony looked at the negative ones and not any of the many, many positive ones. Do you just find the score inherently unfair? I say this because if you actually looked at my reasonings, they don't seem all that farfetched or unfair just because they're more negative than positive.
I mean, no, Evangelion is an iconic anime, and there are so many memes and discussions about it that it's hard for anyone who even knows only mainstream titles to have never heard of it before. That's like if you talked to someone seriously dipping their toes into film never hearing about Citizen Kane or Apocalypse Now. They've been referenced, memed, and parodied so many times that even if you don't know what they are, you've likely at least heard the name or seen an image relating to them before. Anitubers are still talking about Evangelion to this day, Evangelion is still receiving continuations, popularity polls in America and Japan often have Evangelion or its characters in there somewhere. Unless you're younger than 12 or something, you've probably encountered them in some way, shape, or form. I've seen an anime from Winter of this year make an Evangelion reference, if that tells you anything. Perhaps it's not as ubiquitous as Pokemon, a franchise which is so everpresent that even babies can be seen with Pokemon merch, but it's still a very present thing in the medium of anime to this day, just like Cowboy Bebop, Gundam, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
You do realize that people don't generally have mean scores anywhere near as high as the mean scores of a lot of anime or movies, particularly most of the popular ones, right? You're most likely to see a user in the 5.5-7.5 range on MAL, at least in terms of active ones. You're most likely to see 7 as their most common number. 5.88 isn't even that low. It's not even 1 full point below the current global mean, which is somewhere in the 6-7 range. Perhaps not a score you see constantly every day, but the same could be said about scores like your 7.97 mean average. Doesn't mean I "don't like anime" or anything, just that I am critical of it and I've seen many shows that are really good and really bad. If I genuinely didn't like anime, I wouldn't have bothered watching hundreds of titles across several years, or written over 150 reviews that range all across the spectrum from very positive to very negative reviews. There's a reason why the "you have a mean score under 6? you cleary don't like anime, so get the fuck out" is such a groan-worthy form of closed-minded gatekeeping that I and anyone who gets hit with it will never take seriously?
That data is skewed by the fact that I've seen way less pre-2000s anime than I have post-2000s anime. More than half of the anime I watched have been from this decade, primarily from watching multiple shows in any given season. When I go to an old title, it's usually to try out one of the "classics". I'm not watching like 25-40 1988, 1991, or 1997 anime, I'm watching 25-40 2017, 2018, and 2019 anime cuz those are the new things to take chances on. If all I watched from the 90s were Macross Plus, Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, and like 5 other classics with maybe one or two bad ones thrown in there, and I watched like 150 shows of varying degrees of quality from the 2010s, OF COURSE the 90s it's gonna look like I think the 90s are better if you don't look closely. That's like 10 cherrypicked titles vs over 100 I took a gamble on as they were airing. People generally look to the old stuff to look for things long forgotten, or to look at the titles that are regarded as classics for their impacts on the medium or how they caught everyone's attention for a long time and became celebrated for their qualities for at least a decade. When something gets popular, it can start a trend where a lot of shows try to do something similar, like with Evangelion or now, with SAO kicking off the isekai craze of the decade and cementing itself as a classic within the industry in terms of its sheer impact and how people are still talking about it all the time 3/4 of a decade later. So no, I don't see old anime as like this "sacred thing all the new anime are copying from so new anime sucks balls". I'd have to have seen only Evangelion and the shows from the 21st century that tried a similar kind of story, like Rahxephon and FranXX, for me to think such a thing. Just to further add to that, you can look at my top 35 list, and you'll notice that 18 out of 35 are 2010s anime, 6 are 200s anime, leaving the other 11 to be "classic/retro" anime.
You were the one who started making the "no life" comments just because I was at my computer when you left your initial post and I responded. Seems pretty assumptive and accusatory of you when again, it was on a weekend morning, don't you think? It's almost like you shouldn't make such assumptions based on one small act like "immediately or quickly responding to a comment" when one can do the same to you with just as little meaningful evidence, and that you shouldn't be complaining when you get a taste of your own medicine.
I mean, you literally came up and basically gave a "reason you suck speech" predicated on sheer outrage of "people like me" with my "low scores" and whatnot, so no, you really can't get mad at me for basically going "oh well, eff off then, also x, y, and z prove your points wrong". If you're gonna complain about me doing these things, don't start a convo with you basically doing the same thing. Either way, all you were doing was trying to paint me as a "snobbish elitist who hates anime, especially modern anime" and that it gives you an aneurysm, so excuse me for clapping back at you being a jackass throwing around thinly-veiled assumptions based on evidence that's either skewed or inherently not compelling in the least, and trying to actively look down on me for "daring to voice detailed disdain of these works that I like and consider good". There is very little useful, let alone tolerable discourse to gain from that, and if you haven't noticed already, I am definitely the type to clap back and try to get the last word on things when someone starts an argument or a fight with me about meaningless guff.
Also, "appeal to majority" is a fallacy, so let's not act like every mainstream anime is inherently good because while Fate/Zero, Gurren Lagann, Steins;Gate, Psycho-Pass, and One Punch Man season 1 are, I wouldn't say the same for FranXX, Bunny Girl Senpai, Re:Zero, or Akame ga Kill. Widespread appeal =/= genuine critical acclaim, and just because it has above a 7.5 or 8 on MAL, doesn't mean it's inherently great, let alone a masterpiece. The fact that you genuinely think I'm trying to be contrarian or that I rate EVERY POPULAR OR MAINSTREAM ANIME EVER poorly (Kaguya, Vinland Saga, and Promised Neverland, all from this year, are shows I gave a 9, 8, and 7 respectively to, and that second one could potentially turn into a 9 from me by the end) proves that you didn't even look beyond a negative review or two and just made outrage-induced assumptions that are easily debunkable. You're probably one of those people who believe that people who don't like SAO or Aldnoah.Zero are brainlets who can't comprehend basic storytelling, character writing, or visual presentation, all of which I tend to break down extensively as someone studying film and creative writing.
Also, Evangelion is a cultural juggernaut and basically any anime fan or someone who has probably only ever heard of anime like My Hero Academia, Pokemon, Yugioh, or Jojo's Bizarre Adventure has heard the name "Evangelion" or seen images or memes about it.
Either way, it's clear that you didn't come for any kind of reasonable conversation, and are just fueled by outrage over me voicing negative opinions over a select few popular titles that you just so happened to like. Come back when you acquire some basic critical-thinking skills and are capable of being open-minded with someone whose score isn't above a 7 on the internet, not that a 5.88 is a low score since it's still around a 6, which is a positive score, and my most commonly used score is still a 7. Arguing with you is tiresome and is getting me nowhere. You can go back to the hypothetical "life" you have, which prolly doesn't exist if you booted up an account just to talk down to someone for saying things elsewhere about an anime you don't like while minding his own business. Perhaps consider practicing what you preach before you tell people to "avoid insults and stick to fact" as you took time out of your day to shittalk me with absurd notions that are easily debunked my simply looking at my favorites list.
Literally my top 3 favorite anime came out in 2006, 2017, and 2015 respectively, automatically proving one of your points wrong, so take your bigotry and elitism elsewhere and come back when you're more open-minded :^)
Was actually surprised someone commented on my profile and thought you are friendly so I sent u a friend request
