First of all, I'm a big admirer of animation as an art form. I find the technique of creating movement through the accumulation of many drawings fascinating to say the least.
For that reason, the visuals play a big part in my appreciation of a show. Isn't it the ultimate medium to come up with creative aesthetics ?
But of course, I'm quicqly bored if the story and the characters are poorly written. I'm interested in a lot of genres such as drama, fantasy, historical, comedy etc.. and I appreciate above all a deep and coherent world building that immerses me in the show and fleshes out the characters more.
I must say that I find quite epic that nowaday's animation production is vastly concentrated in a relatively small island in the far-east so hats off Japan !
I believe that art can help us find peace, comfort and encourages us towards more harmony and understanding. It is indeed a great weapon against nihilism ( aka the loss of vitality, of faith in humanity and ourselves, the lifestyle degeneracy, the cultural decline and the relativism becoming the absolute )
although I'm now convinced that one still need more to defeat it completely.

has got to be one of the best moments in anime's History.

I rate visuals on a 5 steps scale to simplify.
2 - 4 - 6-7 and 9.
To give you an idea : 9 is Hyouka / Stein's Gate level
7 is Mushishi / Moriarty level
6 is Shiki level
4 is Death Parade level
2 is Sakurasou Pet level
A legendary OST will give the show a +1
A very good OST will give around +0,75
A good OST will give around. +0,5
A decent OST will give around + 0,25
I very rarely rate a show less than 4 because I'm choosing carefully what I'll watch or because I'll drop the show before the end wich means that I'll avoid giving it a too harsh definitive note.
I'm following the platform value of each note even though I would situate the "average" more towards 6 than 5.
