Also, it'd be nice to hear why you started to prefer Battler over Beatrice after your second read. And, yes, I wasn't very satisfied with Higurashi either, put it on hold at chapter 6 for now, same ingenuity and experience simply aren't there

Hey, nice to hear things have been well! I would say your friend has made a good recommendation since it fits your taste quite a bit. Succinctly I'll say that my reason for recommending it to you is its sense of realism as well as introspective and down to earth nature.

It may match the current circumstance too. it's not something you enjoy, but rather appreciate. Two of its main themes are passage of time and loss of interest, and in that same vein it's arranged in a very specific way that you'll simply burn out if you try to binge read it. Simply, whenever you're feeling like it, sit down and read, through slow and slow sips. I found it very rewarding and have a feeling you'll like it a lot too. Hope you enjoy if you give it a chance. Extremely underrated writer. Hit me up whenever you have any questions and don't skip any routes! Guide on fuwanovel is fine.

I know you're probably way too busy to even consider checking out visual novel recommendations but you really should check out Hirahira Hihiru some time. And from the same writer, also MUSICUS. Both are on Steam, go without a guide first time for Hirahira. Quite heavy works though!

My best wishes

Hey, I just wanted to say I really enjoyed your War in the Pocket review. It captures some of the still lingering emotions I had for aspects of the show. Additionally the added detail of anime's from the surrounding time really elevates your review's quality!

I saw you messaged me a while back - sorry for such a late response lol. Yeah, I love your taste as well (I also see you repping Umineko and Fata Morgana!!), you might have the highest compatibility with me that I've seen on the site.

it’s my summer break from work too actually so in 2 weeks i’m back to being busy again. i assume that as a doctor you don’t really have time for yourself even on your days off though
i really respect people who work in healthcare, they sacrifice so much to take care of others, is it like that for you too?

maybe you have any anticipated media you want to get to once you do have some free time?

i'm doing good too, thanks! i'm on summer break right now

have you watched or read anything good recently?

I appreciate the thoughtful response! I actually received word from an acquaintance that I would really like Chiru even though I didn't particularly enjoy the first arc. But just like you I don't have a lot of available time these days, so I was planning to re-read the manga until Chiru and then switch to the VN. So it's good to hear that the pacing is not actually bad as people make it out to be.

I'm surprised to hear that you've grown to love it to the point that it has become your top 1 and you plan to read it a third time (given the length, it's unimaginable to me as something I myself would do), but it does excite me for it.

Wishing you all the best for the beginning of your career as a doctor soon.

One question, how did you put up with Umineko's pacing twice in such a short span of time? I've seen a lot... and a lot of complaints about it.
KitsuFrost Jun 2, 4:06 PM
Yes, I can see where you are coming from. I understand why it gained such popularity while airing, and personally I find this series quite enjoyable; but it doesn't keep consistency of some themes and ideas for a long time. It could've grasped a lot more. The second part is kind of detached from the first one too. Still an enjoyable show all in all so far.
