Haha. Yeah, that's basically the difference. It does all boil down to the same things. Fantasy is way back in time, scifi is way forward in time. Fantasy is filled with weird creatures. Scifi is filled with weird gadgets. Fantasy is filled with magical terms. Scifi is filled with technobabble.
Exactly! Anime can take us into different worlds. Why live our one life when we can live many exciting lives? A lot of stuff in anime wouldn't be able to work in a live-action at all, since we wouldn't be able to suspend our disbelief. And I can admire the different art styles, too...
Nah, I've had people give me essay-long rants on this site and I don't mind. (And I "rant" quite a lot myself, lol.) I love hearing what other people think. :-)
Hm... I've never thought about it that way, but I guess a lot of anime can be considered fantasy. Though when I think of fantasy anime, I'm thinking of monsters (like vampires or dragons)/demons/princes(ses)/kingdoms. Guin Saga, for example, I would consider pure fantasy.
But I guess I'm more of a sci-fi/slice-of-life/mystery watcher.
So what do you like about fantasy? I like sci-fi because it's cool seeing all the awesome possibilities and technologies.
Hm... I see. It actually looks old (the cover art didn't seem that bad, so I thought it may be old, but made in a newer style...) Ok then, I guess I'll keep holding off on it :-).
I see. Hm... why don't you try watching the anime, first?
Yeah, the story of Medaka Box does sound interesting. I'll probably finish it in the manga.
That's cool. How is Revolutionary Girl Utena? I was planning to watch it sometime.
Fruits Basket is a great manga :-). I read most of the chapters, then got lazy and finished just the story by reading the Wikipedia summary, haha. I might go actually finish the manga sometime.
I'm currently watching the second season of Medaka Box. It's quite funny and entertaining, but I think there's too much fanservice.
Yeeeeah, I have no idea how it got like that, at least the PTW. I'm too lazy to go and re-evaluate that list. Same goes for the on hold >_>
But this year I'm definitely going to concentrate more on watching anime that's on my on hold list. I mean, it's ridiculous of me to not attempt to finish anime that I've started like 5-6 years ago @__@
What, I intended to give it an 8 actually.
I may not have enjoyed it as much, but I really did. It had been some time I didn't watch a an anime series. Mostly because I can't be bothered to look, I always think there is no more anime out there I will truly enjoy. I somehow always have that in my mind except when I have others on my plan to watch list.
