You have stumbled upon the profile of an introverted, phlegmatic, slightly melancholic, highly enigmatic, incredibly indolent, auto-didactic, bibliophilic, bipedal creature. This insignificant fellow lives on a pale blue dot lost in the all-encompassing void of space, is 19 years old, possesses two distinct chromosomes (XY) and is doing his bachelor's in an engineering field that expects him to know that 10 = 2. ( i.e. I'm a computer science student)
This guy enjoys all vicarious forms of entertainment and is a voracious consumer of books, video games, anime series, TV shows and movies. He also considers writing to be a form of catharsis and writes on a wide range of issues ranging from ancient history to futuristic technology and from poems to rock music on various blogs.
When he isn't stuck to his laptop or kindle reader, this fella enjoys running, cycling, trekking, traveling, learning languages, hitting the gym and playing scrabble.
More about me-
What I am-
1. Bibliophile - I love reading. As Tyrion Lannister said- "A mind needs books like a sword needs a whetstone".
I prefer Historical fiction,Sci-fi, space opera, fantasy and detective genres in fiction and general history, military history, anthropology, philosophy, economics and science genres in non-fiction.
2. Dilletante Writer- I love to pen my thoughts down. For me, writing is a form of catharsis.
I am a versatile writer and my content ranges from history to current affairs; prose and poetry; economics and warfare; and other topics.
I am also working on a sci-fi novel set on Titan and Europa. The idea is in place, the characters are sketched out and the theme is set. Unfortunately, due to academic preoccupations, I have been unable to put pen on paper, as of yet; I hope to do so soon.
3. Japanophile - Last year, my roommate introduced me to Japanese animation colloquially called anime; My first series was Full Metal Alchemist.
Prior to this, I had considered anime to nearly indistinguishable from cartoons (Blasphemy right!) with the notable exception of the huge eyes and I didn’t have a high opinion of either it or its viewers; however, the excellent characterization, superlative storyline and immaculate cinematography of FMA compelled me to do a volte-face about the issue.
Several series later, I can confidently aver that some anime series are nothing short of art; and deserve to stand shoulder to shoulder with the best TV series. (Although, there are many anime series that are nothing more than execrable garbage. Again, it is no different from any other art form.)
Moreover, it also sparked my interest to learn more about its country of origin and my resolution for 2016’s summer vacation was to learn more about Japan; its history and culture; and hopefully its language.
After reading several books on the country, listening to myriads of Japanese folk and pop songs, and learning the basics of its nightmarishly convoluted writing system : I can say that my inchoate love for the country had blossomed into full-fledged Japanophilia.
However, this doesn't mean that I have degraded myself to the status of a Weeaboo (I'm Indian anyway so that title means nothing to me), it just means that I have a healthy respect for Japanese culture, language, and heritage; and that I seek to imbibe their admirable qualities foremost of which are industriousness, politeness, and punctiliousness: reconcile them with my Indian values and hopefully become a better person.
4. Ex- Gamer - I believed in at least two hours of daily gaming. Mowing down hordes of bad guys kept my mind sharp and my fingers strong. Nowadays, I have significantly cut down on my gaming habits to spare time for more productive activities (Let's admit it, gaming isn't that great for your grades).
5. Geek- I am studying Computer science at a prestigious Indian college. While I'm not much into competitive programming, I like web development, graphic design, and digital marketing.
6. Polyglot- I know a total of 6 languages. 3 of these are foreign (French, English and Spanish) and 3 are Indian (Hindi, Odia, and Bengali).
How I rate stuff-
10- (Creme de la creme) -A masterpiece that ticks all the right boxes according to me. A totally unforgettable show and one of my absolute favorites.
9- (Superb) - An exemplary show, but with a minor flaw or two that prevents it from being the best. That said, it deserves a place on the favorites list for missing perfection by a hair's breadth.
8- (Great) Stands heads and shoulders above most shows but several minor flaws prevent it from reaching the pinnacle. Still, it's a highly enjoyable and an amazing show to watch.
7- (Good) - Gets a lot of things right but it's not exceptional or outstanding in any regard. It's worth checking out, though.
6- (Okay)- A fairly decent show to watch. Above average in most aspects.
5- (Run of the mill)- An average experience plagued with either a cliched storyline, bad characters or other flaws. I have no hard feelings about it, but I've got nothing good to say either.
4- (Bad)- I had lots of problems with the show. At the end of the day, it did have some redeeming qualities, but I would still suggest you skip it.
3- (Horrible)- Completed it with great difficulty. For the love of god, don't waste your time with this.
2- (Atrocious) So bad that I dropped it in the middle. Avoid like the plague.
1- (Biohazard) A direct pass to the hall of shame. I have no idea how anyone can watch such a thing while retaining their sanity.
