Even on this site Hinomaru Zumou manga have only 5000 who gave it a score, while there are 69000 who gave score to AssClass and 92000 who gave score to HQ, even in terms of score they are both higher. Do you really think WSJ popularity poll is the place where impossible is possible and Hinomaru Zumou can beat both HQ and AssClass even though in pretty much every other place he got beaten by both?

(One of the top 3 best selling jump manga at the time.) HQ sold like 7-10 better than Hinomaru Zumou, there is no way Hinomaru Zumou is beating HQ in a fair popularity fight. MHA position higher than HQ and AssClass is also questionable. Both if i remember right had 2 times (or so) more copies sold.

As far as i remember Saiki was almost always (or always) above Bleach in what you call "polls", but look at the sales of volumes, it is like 5 times lower than Bleach. https://saikikusuo-no-psinan.fandom.com/wiki/Saiki_Kusuo_no_Psi-nan_(Manga) If more people like Saiki more then why Bleach is selling better? Where are all those people who you think "voted" for Saiki? Why are they not buying the volumes? If what you call polls are actually polls then sales of Saiki should have been at least 400000-500000 copies.

Even if we'll take worst chapter of One Piece and compare it to the best chapter of One Punch-Man, One Piece will still win the poll, because sales of One Piece are like 6 times bigger.

Another example is any poll on shikimori. Many people have said SAO gets bad after 1st arc, score of SAO is like 7.20 at this point and even at the moment of this poll it wasn't higher than 7.92, but it still got "anime of the year (2012)". https://shikimori.one/contests/8-luchshie-anime-2012-goda Quality in popularity polls doesn't matter. Polls are always won by most commercially successful manga (or anime). I think last year a lot of Crunchyroll awards were won by AoT and JJK, at that moment both were in the top 3 best selling manga.

If you want another example, search for ForneverWorld's channel. One Piece best or second best (depending on how you count Spy x Family) selling manga is always winning the polls. Popularity = sales.

It was example of "already popular and commercially successful manga beating everyone". You can exclude Bleach from that example and left only Chainsaw Man if you want, it won't change anything that it shows.

Dude, just look at all the "most anticipated anime" polls before the start of this season on YouTube for example. They were dominated by Chainsaw Man and Bleach, mangas with biggest fanbases. So, you are telling me that almost every manga was more popular than Bleach, but they had lower sales? So, basically, avarage japanese guy after reading Jump was like "there is so much more better manga than Bleach. Bleach sucks!" and then went to a store and bought volume of Bleach instead of all those manga he liked more? If that's true japanese people are insane masochists or liars who's words do not equal their actions, basically hypocrites.
