I have been watching anime since the summer of 2012 and reading manga since spring of 2013 so i've not been at it as long as a lot of people, but I've made up with it in the sheer volume of anime/manga that i've enjoyed.
While I do watch and enjoy the big 3 i'm not going to list those under my favorites for anime or manga because I want to expose people to different things and there are other anime and manga that I feel ARE better than the big three as far as delivery and art go. Feel free to recommend any anime or manga to me as i'm always looking for more to read/watch.
As a side note I've recently (since like summer 2015) gotten into some light novels and wish MAL had a section for them so i could make a list. Instead I'll try to list the one's i'm reading/thinking about reading and keep it up to date here in my bio.
