My lists are by no means an accurate list of things I've watched because for most part I've forgotten the names of a great deal of titles I've read or watched.
They usually aren't up to date either, especially weekly manga series (in terms of how many chapters I've read)
My scores for both anime and manga are subjective not objective. After all, I am reviewing, and the whole point of a review is to state your opinion of it. My reviewing system may seem inconsistent, and that may be so. I give a score based on my impression of the series at the time of watching and I've watched some series several years ago. For example, I absolutely loved Fate/ Stay Night but if I were to rewatch it I'd be pretty sure I'd be rating it lower.
My score (on "lists") which represents "average" for anime (and manga) is 7 (although it probably should be 5). Hence, I give seemingly "good" scores to mediocre series. I do plan on changing this system and changing my old scores accordingly though. This system does not apply to written reviews.

People seem to die alot but most of their deaths lack impact. I think the show would actually benefit from more violence because watching people disappear as soon as they die kind of ruins the emotion. The ending theme doesn't help eithe. It keeps trying to make it seem depressing but then it goes to this soft and upbeat song for the end credits. It's not as bad as the ending theme to Clannad After Story though. It's a good song but later on in the series when it gets really sad it never fails to ruin the moment.
Back on to SAO, the pacing is all over the place. They skip over long periods of time for no apparent reason, they kill of people without any sort of proper emotional build-up. But with the lack of action shows this season I guess this will have to do. I mean, it's not awful. It's still a really good show. Despite a few glaring flaws like this gem here
End of episode 2: I don't need any guilds, I'm a solo player
Start of episode 3: Okay I'll join your guild
There's also a few good new shows I'd recommend like Sword Art Online, Tari Tari and Hyouka. I recommend you watch Cowboy Bebop as soon as possible though. It's an anime classic that actually stands the test of time very well.
On another note, YAY! I found an Australian!

I try not to be too subjective when I score a show, but I can't give points for feelings I didn't, well, feel while watching. I'd still say check it out if it interests you, but it's nothing more than a tale of two kids during a war that's very sad.
Generally the manga is usually better than the anime but with berserk the art style makes it hard to know what's going on, as instead of just drawing what the eye should be looking at Miura completely details every background, making them impressive to blow up and stick on your wall, but with some pages it's really hard to know where guts actually is :D It is really really great though, so if you can't wait go for it, but be prepared for the pain of waiting on new chapters.
