The other night, I was playing League of Legends on my Mac, when I suddenly got a phone call. Not recognizing the number, I picked up, and what would greet me on the other end but the familiar, nasally voice of an old friend.
"Listen closely. This is Bill Gates. I have seen the future. And it is—
Personal computing—
On Windows 95."
Utterly shaken by the massive revelation Bill Gates just thrust upon me, I set the phone down and took a moment to recover my bearings. Having collected my thoughts, I again picked up the phone, looked Bill Gates in the eyes (as much as you can look someone in the eyes over the phone), and I said,
"Bill Gates, shut the fuck up. Personal computing will never take off."
Then I slammed the phone on its receiver. We never spoke again.
