The author has another manga called Blood on the Tracks, I heard similar good things about it. Have you read it?
I haven't been watching the seasonal but will do, been fairly busy. I want to check out Insomniacs and Konosoba spinoff, for the others I might read the manga to save time. Also bro I've been watching Vinland Saga S2 and its amazing. 100% one of my favorite seasons of all time in anime and definitely a strong 9.5 and probably higher when it finishes. It delivered what I thought was missing in S1 when it comes to the complexity of the world, characters, ideas. Genuinely incredible.
Also some new stuff there's a Bunny Girl Senpai movie coming. I enjoyed Bunny Girl Senpai quite a bit when its anime and movie . Any manga you reading recently? I recently read a pretty light hearted romance called Sweat and Soap, not sure if you'd like it but its a mature romance with your regular comedy scenarios but the characters are adults which is nice. Pretty wholesome and refreshing if you're tired of school romances.
Yeah man wtf this next season is stacked. I swear its there's been an alternating pattern when it comes to seasonal, always a "laid back -> stacked" for like the past 2 years. Yep anticipated manga being adapted im excited. I've read Oshi no Ko and its underwhelming imo, it has a good premise but often forgets what it has built up. Sometimes a bit sloppy as well, you might like it more so since Aka Akasaka did the story and you liked Kaguya-sama more. Ngl tho the art is really fucking good and unique, especially some of the colored panels. Its like the level of when OPM has colored panels.
Aku no Hana is very good. I'd give it a 7.4, its captures that 'perversion' and 'coming of age' extremely well. Compelling but flawed characters. Only negative was the 2nd half, it pretty much just surmised the series very neatly and felt contrived; a step down to the complexity in the first half. Not that it was bad but just expected, stories like this, Onanie Master Kurosawa for example, analyses the characters and ability to change. While this was the 'growth through other people' cliche. Its imagery and themes were definitely my favorite part really good. That chapter with the protagonist dreaming the future with 0 dialogue and the flower was incredible, I know that will be a chapter that stays with me. Idk why but it just hit me perfectly.
Black Lagoon is awesome. Its very refreshing, even though its old, and feels like a western produced show. Kinda like Bebop, cool action, likable characters. Goofy and tense when it can be. Also Revy, damn. The plot is literally this: typical Japanese salary man office worker is tired of the corporate life he joins the underground world of crime, in which he is more enthusiastic than his regular job, like a complete 180 lmao. Give it a shot if you feel burnout. Shinai naru Boku e Satsui wo Komete was just bad. Tbh no strong opinions, just regular harem show with a new premise. Comedy some times lands but 70% is just no.
Also I forgot to mention but I read Molester Man and it was really good. A solid 8.5. I think the fact its based off of a real 2c thread makes it sweeter somehow. The comedy, dialogue, plot was funny, good and overall very strong. I can definitely see why this is very very highly rated despite the egregious amount of text and limited art. I've come to like it with how distinct his/her style is.
EDIT: Also I recommend you check out this thing on MAL called FAL (Fantasy Anime League) and its basically like a sport bracket where you predict which anime is the most popular, favorite, etc. And you get points by the entire season, Its really fun to make your own team and look at the potential bangers. When I joined last time from a friends recommendation I randomly added Bocchi the Rock and it happened to carry me to a higher score.Just search it and the rules/details will be there and make your own team basically.
Coincidentally when talking about Frieren its confirmed to get an anime, maybe I'll enjoy it on a watch instead of read.
Yeah completely agree! The manga was much better than the anime. I definitely had the same feelings for the ending, but I think its an ending you appreciate as time passes. I think its perfect there was arguably no culmination between Johan and Tenma. You can argue that it was never Tenma's place to judge the storys finale rather he throughout the series, as you said, was a true good doctor through the era it was set it. Other than that especially with the last shot being the empty hospital bed where Johan was. I remember how mixed and all sorts of emotions I felt when I read that. Insane, glad you enjoyed it.
I heard it was a bit mixed actually. My friend who loves Disney+ and their shows says all the good episodes are the ones that focused on the Mandalorian lmao, I'll give it a shot though since its Star Wars. Just haven't gotten around to it.
Also I see from your manga you've discovered 'We Will Begin Ethics', genuinely hidden gem. Never saw this before and just discovered it on MAL. Im sure your background in psychology added your appreciation. Definitely solid 7.5-8 ish, still a bit unsure considering the quality of some of the stories. 1 thing thats a bit funny for me though the mangaka clearly had some sort of teacher fetish bruh, there's like 5 times a student falls in love with Takayanagi.
I see. Considering how highly rated it is, and it is a comedy, I'll pick it up if I feel like getting into it.
Read a few chapters of Frieren and its interesting. Although, do you think it gets better? From the point I got to which is very early, like mid of volume 2, I feel like I've gotten enough of the story. Does it generally stay slice of life or have more interesting developments later on? Since to me it feels pretty formulaic after a few chapters.
I see you've finished the Monster manga, one of my favorites definitely. How did you find it?
I haven't read the manga yet, I was really debating to read it but I'll give ep 1 a try and if its on par with S1, regarding music, production, etc, I'll watch the anime instead. Yep! Never watched Trigun as well but considering its legacy I doubt they'd find a way to mess up so excited as well.
Isekai's man. Isekai's have always been popular but nowadays their title just becomes longer and sometimes random occupations just have to be done in a fantasy world. Like I saw one for pharmaceutical shop?? Like man what. Every season for like the past year has 1 isekai about a villainess, everyday it gets worse lmao.
Ah fair lmao. I heard from a friend it was very overrated and our sense of humor is somewhat similar so Im hesitant to check it out. Especially considering how high rated the manga is, but tell me your opinions on it.
How is Iruma kuns manga? Worth it in your opinion? I haven't started S3 since its still airing and I'll probably watch when all the episodes are out. Ah I see not that into music, I like my share of anime OSTS as well lmao. Don't listen to classical music that much besides like the most notable names.
I did not enjoy Konosuba at all lmaooo. Obviously comedy is subjective and I found most of it just.. not funny. But even then everything else besides the comedy and voice acting nothing stood out. Yeah this new season looks pretty good as well, ofc Vinland Saga animated by MAPPA. Their workers literally on overtime for like this year. Trigun reboot and Nier anime looks pretty exciting as well. And why is there so many isekais with their long LN titles this season man wtf lmao.
Oh hey I just realized its 25th of December when I signed in, have a nice Christmas and New Years my man!
I haven't read past the end of the first part of chainsaw man. All I see is like this 1 girl with the Golden Kamuy face scar being simped everywhere lmao. How is the Blue Lock manga? I've heard really good things about it actually. Didnt Araki reveal he was gonna make part 9? Jojo will never stop ig lmao, nice though cause when I read it eventually I'll have a lot of material.
Ah nice. Stargazing is something I'd like to get into and just be more knowledgeable about, always had an interest in space like any kid. in terms strategy gamez/puzzles I am really into nonograms, sometimes called picross. Its kinda like sudoku but not, you should check it out. Its one of those games you get addicted it easily. Oh bro! I used to play PokemonShowdown sooo much, especially with one of my school friends. I'd pretty much play that at every chance I get, although I mostly built duel teams with broken moves and stats and troll ones lmao. Hearthstone to me is just like League tbh lmaoo (Nothing against hearthstone players)
Sounds interesting. When I have more time I'd definitely like to explore those areas too. I've always had an interest on philosophy, psychology, economics since like middle school. But recently been more so on economics since thats where Im planning to go, when I have a lot more free time I'll keep those titles noted and read them then.
Anime I recently watched Yuru Camp and Takagi-san s3. Needed a relaxing watch tbh thats why I binged both shows in like a day lmao. Also I started watching the Iruma-kun anime and its really good. it at the same time has the humor of 2000s anime but being modern? Don't know how to describe it but im having a lot of fun with it. Hobbies I guess is probably music, although I cant and dislike pretty much playing instruments. I appreciate the art of it although I cant explain it. I mostly listen to 90s - 00s music that fall under rock/post-rock/alternative.
its not 'officially' Ghibli. It was made by a studio that isn't called Ghibli but was many of the staff/animators moved to Ghibli after doing Nausicaa, sort of like a predecessor. It has Miyazaki's and Joe Hisaishi's name so it might as well be Ghibli lmao.
Yeah, if you honestly have nothing else BC is overall a fun series. Don't know how the anime compares to the manga though since im an anime only water.
In terms of real life stuff I'd rather keep it private but im planning to continue my studies of economics. Which is my main big interest academic wise and what's been keeping me busy for the past months; and more so later. So I've mainly been focusing on that, other than that im still in school so as usual just going through that routine. Curious, if you don't mind answering, what are some of your interests other than anime/manga? Be it other hobbies or the field you work at.
Also I've finished Kaguya and man... Always sad to see a series finally end. especially one where I had a second experience of and enjoyed it way more.
Yeah, amazing talent for animation but meh everything else. But overall the best thing that came from Your Name was probably brining Radwimps into the mainstream. Still listen to them on occasion.
Damn you've been a fan that long. This will probably make you feel old but the period where I got really really into anime was when Boruto started lmaoo.
Ah I see. My top ones are #1 Perfect Blue, #2 Nausicaa, #3 Either Millennium Actress or A Silent Voice. Then #4 Only Yesterday. I also recently watched Howl's Moving Castle and man the music is like stuck in my head. The piano motif, idk musical terms, of the piano's first notes makes me so nostalgic to a movie I've never seen. Definitely my favorite Ghibli besides Nausicaa. Nausicaa, especially the manga, is like the series that just speaks to me. I love everything about it and its just peak Miyazaki imo. I thought Ghibli in general were pretty overrated, especially MIyazaki, but he should really publish more manga. Its like top 5 media closest to an actual 10/10. If you have the time definitely read it.
I was actually a very early watcher of Black Clover and watched it weekly for like a good 2 years but stopped around 110ish. I mean its kinda meh, but just imagine all the fun parts of every shonen and make it really digestible and sort of easy to watch. Thats Black Clover. Don't expect the highs of One Piece, HxH, or even BNHA, but expect the joy of watching a predictable shonen. But overall I'd recommend something else though.
Ah yeah been meaning to get around to that. But been super busy and will be for a while. One reason my response is like a month after yours lmao. Haven't had the motivation to watch and overall am focusing my time on something else. I'll definitely watch it though since its only 6 episodes, and loved Tatami Galaxy so easy watch probably.
Eh I'd say Shinkai films in general are kinda meh. Besides Your Name which imo was and is heavily over rated but still the best of Shinkai, everything else is just like prettier Ghibli films with less charm. Also heard good things on Eminence of Shadow. Yep the lineup of sequels is insane, for Bleach though its funny seeing the change from everyone being hype to everyone realizing the manga ending, apparently, was bad lmaooo.
Yooo I have! Its one of my favorites definitely. Everything up to the ending was maybe a 6-7 but man that ending tied everything together and just completly twisted and cemented the tone of the story. Its super super well thought out imo by accident, slice-of-life but complex enough it hooks you with the ambiance. I'd give it a 8.5/10. Just wondering what are your top anime films?
Ay nice. Personally I think CSM is a little overrated, especially the later stuff of the manga. But I definitely agree of the new 'dark' shounen series' its the best one. The beginning of CSM is really good, and with Mappa adapting everything they will definitely deliver. So wait yeah, you're in for a good time. And I've heard good things about Blue Lock and Eminence of Shadow, the new adaptations. A new Shinkai film as well man crazy.
When you do watch them definitely lmk! His stuff is really good.
Edit: Also you should read the Among Us one shot. Masterful deconstruction of what a manga should be. Genius tbh.
I've heard a lot of good things about Call of the Night. Oh I've read Ayumu and its ok... I wouldn't recommend it tbh. Its like a manga you read waiting for your doctor appointment or smth, its fun. Dude I love Barakamon! Its one of my favorite slice of life, if you liked Barakamon I recommend checking out Bunny Drop. The tone is reminiscent of Mushishi, very melancholic but sweet. I've also heard a lot of good things from Frieren, I'll check it out then. Next season though I just looked it looks stacked asf. Wondering have you read CSM?
Tokyo Godfathers is amazing. Satoshi Kon, the director, is one of my favorite film directors of all time. The style and editing of his movies (Perfect Blue, Paprika, Millennium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers) are super unique and incredible. If Masaaki Yuasa had the most unique art style, Kon has the best editing and its not even close. I'd heavily recommend checking his filmography, I'd recommend checking out his debut film (Perfect Blue) and going through the order they premiered. You can really see his style and movies evolve. Run with the Wind is a really good sports anime that isn't about sports imo. It really reminded me of Ping Pong but a lot more light hearted. Realistic characters and goals, its also just a very quick and simple story.
Ahhh damn I see. Yeah it was definitely written to be sappy. The latter half I'd say is much better because it wasn't as intentional/overt in the sappy/emotional moments but if the first half didnt hook you in then no reason to continue. Big sad man I don't know anybody who's read this lmao.
But anyways you watching any seasonal this time around besides RWBY? And I guess I'll take a manga recommendation if you have any a well. Since after finishing Punpun I just needed to really let it set.
