Yeah, I like Eiji (the fake one), he was a good protagonist to follow especially because he stayed optimistic til the very end, he also served as comic relief at times always hitting those weird duck faces lol.

It's been an enjoyable ride full of twists plus it's very easy to read. Just have to wonder if it'll stick the landing for me since it's been going strong so far.

Doing good thanks for asking :), then definitely be cautious when approaching TWIM. Another thing to keep in mind is that it can get pretty wordy at times, with some of its last chapters being full of text, that's why it took me longer than expected to read even if it's a relatively normal length for a series (14 vols).

It's a pretty unique series I really recommend it, be aware it has violent imagery and some upsetting scenes (though from what you've read I'm pretty sure it's not too extreme)

He's fucked up but idk if I'd put him a level above Nakoshi, you can sort of feel the desperation in his character, he's messed up to his core and cannot change because of the situation he's put in. I really like Ichi The Killer, even the live-action was decent aside from some outdated CG vfx.

It definitely felt similar to that era of Yamamoto's works (Ichi and Homunculus). I wonder if Yamamoto actually believes in those subliminal techniques, the full book of Eye of Homunculus apparently includes some columns by therapist Ishii Hiroyuki who influenced Yamamoto. Even if he does, the way he depicts subliminal techniques has an inherent unnerving quality to it.

Read "Eye of Homunculus" and while the plot is simple, the atmosphere, along with those mosaic and blurry visuals gave me slight deja vu.

It looks interesting, added! I like how you included that weird one-shot Yamamoto made with Oku, as well as the one with the woman kissing a dog lol. You should read Kayama-kun no Baai, the one-shot included in Homunculus no Me Yamamoto did.

Mine was Iwao, the female bodyguard. The arc she's in is my favorite, especially in how it uses Kano since he's not the main focus but rather an inevitable force of nature, levels above his peers. Mizoguchi's girlfriend also deserved better, it was interesting to follow such cruel characters. I also think the last enforcement was weaker even though I loved its conclusion, I always thought of Higuchi as someone who was in complete control of the situation, like Makima in CSM, so her final moments were a bit underwhelming for me.

Btw I tried to watch the live-action movie, it had a very interesting initial 10 or so minutes but then they adapt the Phantom bodyguard arc in the lamest way imaginable I had to turn that shit off.

I liked it a lot at the time but I need to rewatch it to fully understand some of the things that happened in the series. Love the opening tho, it's seared in my mind. ♪You complete my fate, the world unwinds inside of me♪ The designs are also amazing, I need to get around watching more Manglobe series like Samurai Champloo and Saraiya Goyou.
