Anime is the best thing that happened to me in school and it continues to light up my life.
I watch predominantly action, adventure, shounen and thriller, or anything with similar tags. I don't enjoy pure romance and comedies or romcoms 'cus they don't interest me (although there may be one or two on my list) and moe does nothing for me, I'm really not the kind of guy who melts over cute things being cute unless it's animals. Harem and ecchi I avoid almost entirely, often just seeing either of those in the genre tags makes me not want to watch a series, if I want sensual stuff of any kind I'll just watch hentai, don't need that in anime thanks.
I like to be engaged with a series but I'm also a sucker for turn-your-brain-off battle series, depends on what mood I'm in. Any series where I didn't care about the story and/or characters or simply switched off while watching is tagged TYBO on my list, in those cases my score reflects how much I enjoyed it, high-scoring TYBO series I still recommend giving a watch.
I also wish there was a separate list for hentai since I use a different set of criteria for hentai to anime, so don't be alarmed if you see a hentai rated highly against a really good anime, I don't consider them equals. Any hentai series is tagged H on my list.
The scoring system on MAL is kinda' weird for me so you might find a lot of anime I've given a 5 or 6, that's only because an anime has to do a lot wrong before I call it bad and many series don't get to that point, so having a score of 4 be labelled "Bad" doesn't sit right. It should be more like;
10 Masterpiece
9 Excellent
8 Great
7 Good
6 Fine
5 Average
4 Subpar
3 Lacking
2 Bad
1 Awful
