Well, I wouldn't have that much of an issue with the strong focus on the romance like I do (even though Spice & Wolf's setting + atmosphere gives the vibe of something more than just a romance), in case the romance itself managed to be interesting...but I didn't think that was the case. Due the issues with Lawrence's characterization like I mentioned in my arguments there, I felt that the romance between Holo/Lawrence, which initially was quite interesting, started to get boring over time. Basically the reason why I didn't like the excessive romance focus in the 2nd season. Holo herself was quite a complex natured, interesting female lead, I did quite like her character....but my issues were mostly with Lawrence's character, since he was a more simple-natured character, like a good ol' guy who was an honest businessman (which is something definitely not bad for a character to start off with), they needed to give him some notable characterization/development to keep him interesting, which'd have subsequently kept his romance with Holo fresh & interesting as well. But I just felt like that the show notably didn't do much in this regard.

Anyways, these are basically just my own viewpoints regarding the show & how I felt about it in general. It's probably not right of me to impose my arguments on someone who enjoyed the show by trying to argue hard on it so I guess I should probably stop regarding that here. The thing is....my experience with the show was quite frustrating, like I was really enjoying at the beginning of S1 but gradually starting losing interest in it towards the end of S1 & by the time I was done with S2 I ended up being really disappointed with the show; basically the reason I tend to go on a rant explaining my problems with the show whenever it comes up. But regardless, feel free to disagree with my arguments. :)

Love your taste in anime! It gives me the "I like to watch what is fun to me" vibes and I respect it!! Will for sure watch some of the anime you have rated well that I haven't watched yet.

Haha I suppose. The thing is, I hope to not watch real trash. A 5 isn't necessarily a bad score, it's a "meh." Plus, my ratings are based mainly off of my enjoyment so... Regardless, glad you score generously and enjoy what you watch to such an extent.
