My name is Jeff Branch and I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A retired military member (Navy), I'm a big fan of anime, manga, sports, movies, comic books and cable documentary shows. I also enjoy pop and classic rock music from the 60's through the 80's with my favorite group being Pink Lady, the legendary Japanese song and dance pop duo from the late 70's.
When it comes to anime, I've been enjoying it pretty much all my life as I remember sitting in front of my TV watching the likes of Marine Boy, Prince Planet and Speed Racer back in the 60's, of course, I had no idea I was watching anime back then. Today, I enjoy all sorts of genres: slice of life (Clannad), shoujo (Peach Girl), mecha (Gundam Wing), horror (Hell Girl), humor (Excel Saga), fantasy (Magic Knight Rayearth), sci-fi (Ghost in the Shell), yuri (Strawberry Panic), girls with guns (Noir), you name it, I've tried it at least once. HA! That's the true magic of anime, that there's something for everyone to enjoy!
Even though I'm an old fart (50 and counting), I don't look at myself as someone for whom something like anime has passed me by because of my advanced age, I don't accept that. At the end of the day, you're only as old as you feel, and I feel like a kid when enjoying the greatness that's anime!

nice to meet you suiseiseki fan :3
I don't have a bias towards old/new anime and try to look at the positive instead of knit-picking. Mecha/Sci-Fi is my home base, but in the past 5yrs or so I've been exploring genres I previously skipped over. I've been working on my list in the past couple of months, trying to remember all that I've seen. Every few days I'll come across a few I'd forgotten about and add. It'll be a while before I get it near complete. A lot more than the 600+ entries I'm at now.
Glad to know there are a few others on MAL my age I can relate to and learn from who have seen more than I have!
A copy of this post is in the Old Farts Club.
I've been meaning to pick up Moriaty the Patriot, i love period shows/anime (eg Bridgeton on Netflix recently was amazing). I was hoping that Funimation would produce a dub for the show, as I find historical shows set in Victorian England ridiculous with Japanese audio, it just doesn't fit when they keep saying Sherlock-sama and Watson-san etc.
Have a good day!
A good chuckle to start celebrating the Christmas holidays!
