Subaru is not someone who will underestimate Witch Cult, you will see in next episode(s)
I know we've already talked on discord, but I'm glad we're friends on MAL as well, and I also confirmed later on discord that you were the one who created the MAL message that came to me.
Thanks for taking care of all this.
I think it's too cartoonish to take seriously as far as the "downsides of transhumanism" go. It seems like the tone would remain a bit darker than it was for the second half. The downsides are on display in the same way you'd see with a film about a meth-addicted biker gang. It's just "live fast, die young" and it's better to burn out rather than fade away, like Maine would have if the cops weren't after him (just kidding, in the world of C:E everyone becomes a mass shooter lol). I think I referenced Psycho-Pass? I think that's simply a much better portrayal of how a society could function, and though I feel the intent was to portray the world negatively, I've seen more positive perspectives on it. So there's a bit more nuance and balance there. The incoherence of C:E's world is just how hands-off everything is. Like the pissing bum who goes nuts? I know the crime rate is very high in some countries irl, but the idea of someone like the cyberpsycho in the opening on every street corner is pretty ridiculous. Realistically, with the push for gun control in most countries, I'd expect more restraint, but it seems like everyone is just one step away from being a malfunctioning war machine. Just to be clear, I'm not saying there won't be gangs with black market military parts, but... it all feels really off. I think it's because Imaishi goes for crazy stylistic stuff like Dead Leaves.
The pacing does make it kind of difficult to absorb or remain critical towards. I've noticed a lot of people who felt that "rush" from it, but on reflection a few days after, they were thinking "meh." Hahaha. It's also a binge show from Netflix, which probably results in less contemplation time. Plus, you know... with anime, most of them are like MY WAIFU much of the time, which is whatever, but this one literally ends with I'LL SACRIFICE ANYTHING FOR THE WAIFU I'LL NEVER HAVE (aside from nosebleeds over naked ice baths). The ending just makes my skin crawl. Now that I think about it... I'm probably mostly just repeating myself based on what I said in the review...
