I'm 43 years old. Father of three growing boys. I have been a fan of anime since age 16. I am a machine operator and a moderate computer nerd. Currently I love/enjoy far too many anime series to single out any one as my fave anime.
In 20+ years of watching anime (off and on) I have never once dropped an anime regardless of how painful it may have been to view. The main reason is simple, I feel that in order to truly rate/rank an anime you should at the very least follow through and watch the show in its entirety.
Truthfully it really irritates me when someone watches 1 or 2 episodes and then drops the anime while also rating it. I personally think it would be better to choose not to rate an anime if you drop it. Of course like I said I have never dropped a show so anything with a 4 or lower score at the very least was watched completely before getting that score.
Lately I've been looking into manga. I haven't read much although I have found some good ones. Other than mainstream if you have any recommendations I'd greatly appreciate it.
I mainly focus on school life/slice of life, mild-moderate ecchi, gender bender, shoujo ai, thriller, psychological, and horror genres which I normally go for with anime so I'd assume with manga I would be more incline to enjoy those that focus on these genres, however I am open to other genres with the exception of anything heavily laced with mecha as I don't care too much for it in general, there are exceptions to this.
