I am an Englishman living in Madrid, Spain and I only got into watching anime recently. The main is much on what is on TV is absolute rubbish and is more or less the same and unoriginal.
What got me hooked on anime are some of the original plots and the hidden meanings behind the stories.
There isn't a general genre or studio I particular like so I am open to watch any type of anime from action to romance though I don't watch much Mecha. What is important is that the anime has good and likable characters and a good story. If it has a good theme song then even better.
I watch the good and the bad because I think if you watch something as intense as Elfen Lied you can relax by watching something dumb like Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro Chan.
I am also a big fan of the work of Shinkai Makato.
As far as the dubbed or subbed argument goes I prefer subbed as much of the dubbed anime seems to be reading the subtitles anyway.
I enjoy writing reviews though I can be overly generous with the scores so for it to get a low score it has to be really bad. Be warned that my spelling is pretty bad.
Feel free to make comments even if you don't agree with me but be polite or I won't reply.

Yes, from what I have read, Kizu will be out this year and so will Bake's sequel. I forget where I read that, but I have real hopes for more Bake-like story with Hitagi and Araragi interplay. That is what made Bake so good!!!!
