I think that makes a lot of sense and I can totally understand that. I'm personally more of a guy who enjoys consistent settings, atmosphere and journeys. I realised that most stories just don't do it for me. Of all media, only books seem to offer good stories in a regular fashion in addition to good settings and characters. I think if I wouldn't enjoy journeys as much and had to focus on characters and story in Le Chevalier D'Eon, I wouldn't have enjoyed it, either.
Uh, ok. First of, it's a weak 8. It's more of a 7 but I gave it an 8 because I was enjoying it quite a bit for the consistent atmosphere, which not a lot of show offer today. I kind of disliked the ending which was rushed and the betrayel made little sense in my opinion - the old dude was basically my favourite character up until that point.
Generally speaking, I liked the slow progress. The character were believable, although the MC was kind of annoying, I agree. He wasn't nearly as bad as other MCs though, like Albert in Gankutsuou for example. I especially liked the setting. The whole transportation, spys, mail delivery, political intrigue etc. was very well done imho and really felt like it belonged in that day and age. For me it was less about the story itself but more about the journey which was interesting to me. Probably one of the reasons why I disliked the ending.^^
What did you dislike about it?
Btw. I actually started a rewatch of Kemonozume. It's a really good rewatch, surprisingly enough. I forgot so many details.^^ I'm on ep8 right now. When I'm done I will go back to your TL post and try to answer your questions. At least for the "Why can't they have sex later on?" question I do have an "answer" already. I hope I won't forget it.^^
They are the same kind of of people that apparently must understand everything right away. Open thread for longer than 2 episodes are a no go. Even 2 episodes are borderline acceptable. Well, whatever.
It was the same for me. I think I added Texhnolyze before I had watched 20 anime. It sat on my ptw for a damn long time. But because of this it was the perfect contender to fill the rubric "watch an anime that has been on your ptw for too long" in the 2016 challenge.^^
The characters are certainly memoriable. They aren't the kind of characters the viewer grows close to. Probably the reason I didn't feel like crying in the end. Although I had to laugh when I read that 5/10 review. They call the characters a bunch of alpha-males and that's certainly true...^^
Yeah, I loved the way of story-telling as well. So much happened and you learned so much about the world and characters through environment shots, directing, how the characters were acting, reading in between the lines of dialouge. It was pretty sad to then read the MAL threads and realise that some people still didn't know who the Organo and who the Racan were, by episode 15 or so... What do they need? Signs on the forehead of each character with bulletpoints about them? A narrator to tell them everything? I mean, the narrator and the characters even exposed a lot of information directly later on. I don't expect anybody to pick up all the details. As said, I probably missed a lot of them as well. But basic things should be picked up and I think the show did a fantastic job to teach viewers about the characters and the world in an interesting and thought-provoking way.
Well...^^ I think I rated 3 of the movies 7/10, which is pretty good. In only didn't really enjoy the first and the fifth entry I believe? Those two are stuck in my mind at least, as in I still know what I disliked about them.
And sure, go ahead. I will probably do the same with your list on the coming days. ;)
Niet.
No i kolejna, nudna eksploatacja dzieci z supah powah.
