A friend introduced me to anime in 2018 and being a bookworm originally, I soon started bingeing manga too.
As a student, this hampered my studies on numerous occasions. Fortunately, upon graduation, it only continued to hinder every other potentially productive aspect of my life.
I don't really have a genre preference when it comes to anime, but I read a lot of historical fiction and action manhwa. In all cases though, I avoid horror or heavily gorey stories and are drawn to mysteries. Feel free to send me a recommendation or two!
A note on my anime list:
- PTW LIST: airing/not yet airing anime
- ON-HOLD LIST: completed anime I plan to watch
- WATCHING LIST: anime I'll finish eventually
Additionally, while my anime list is as accurate as I could get it, since I read a lot of manhwa my manga list is always a work in progress. I seldomly update it per chapter and prefer to only add an entry once it's completed.
Thanks for stopping by and for any recommendations you might send my way!

Oh well I haven't read the Boxer and I didn't know it could be dark ? I will check it out !
Teenage mercenary is so good ! I am not updated to it but I love it !
Ohh wait the only synopsis I know is it's a boy with a gun during apocalypse (duh ) .....pretty tough uh ?
You should check out the manhwa .......I come back to it when I want some wholesome stuff and it deals with serious subjects naturally too so I like that !
Yes ....they haven't fully adapted the drama for Semantic Error.
Ohh I see .......what is your favourite k drama ?
I agree with you on that one ......you can always binge read faster than binge watch don't you think ? Also can we talk about the crazy artstyles out there :D
I haven't seen that one ! I like fantasy one more so I like The sandman , Merlin and Sherlock (classic ) one the most ! Also I'm currently enjoying Good Omens !
Have a nice weekend !
P.S. sorry for the super duper late reply it literally took me ages omg T-T
That's good to hear that you're doing well despite the fact that it's not an exciting job. Are you the kind of person who gets stressed easily when you have to do oral presentations? If so, how does it manifest? When I have my weekly meeting with my group, I'm a little stressed, but during the meeting, all my stress disappears, and my mind is quick and fast to answer and explain.
I'm wondering how your colleague keeps your life interesting, haha. With my colleague, sometimes after work, we go to the pub, and during the weekend, we go climbing, hiking, and skiing, so it allows me to enjoy the beautiful landscapes around the area and also exercise, haha. π»π§βοΈπΆβοΈβ·οΈ
Yeah, I can understand that juggling between your master's and job can be super exhausting. How is your mindset after work? Do you have some energy to do some of your hobbies, or do you just want to take a nap as soon as possible?
Oh, that's surprising that you have to pay for school; then it must be hard for families to put their kids in school if they are going through some financial issues. But it's good to know that you succeeded in all of your exams! You must be a smart student then! ππ
Honestly, I have a hard time dealing with people who are physically affectionate. It's just embarrassing, and even more so with people I just met for the first time. I'm quite the contrary; when I was stressed during my exams, I was rather the type to eat more than usual and to sleep more too. Was it convenient or not? I don't know; I feel like I was trying to run away from the difficulties. Did you have that kind of feeling before as well, running from your duties or avoiding them until the deadline starts to get close?
I personally think that French is not a useful language; indeed, it is spoken in a lot of African countries so if you go for tourism it's okay, but for a job, forget about the idea. "Mais c'est cool que tu apprennes le français, qu'est-ce que tu as appris récemment?" (What did you learn recently in French?) And to say "it's good practice," in French "C'est un bon entraînement."
Currently, I'm learning German, but practicing my Italian and Spanish with my colleague makes me more used to the languages. In the next few weeks, I plan to go to Austria in Vienna; do you have any plans for vacation?
It's fine that South Africans are known for their dry sense of humor and sarcasm. French people are known for being arrogant and always broke, never happy in a sense. Would you say that the South African mentality is still better and most of the time they are grateful for what they have and are cheerful?
It sounds like you've got a solid plan in place! Having a jogging buddy is a fantastic idea for accountability and motivation. And you're absolutely right about the importance of time management and goal setting, especially in the midst of the challenges that come with pursuing a master's degree. Your approach to dealing with stress is spot on. Focusing on what you can control, taking things one day at a time, and having a backup plan are all great strategies. And yes, maintaining a healthy lifestyle with exercise, sleep, and a balanced diet can work wonders for managing stress. Remember to be kind to yourself along the way. Mastering time management and stress management takes practice, so don't hesitate to adjust your strategies as needed. You've got this! I wanted to know, are you good at dealing with unexpected events that can occur, or do you prefer that everything stays organized?
I made some friends in the banking, finance, and insurance industry (which is why Geneva is famous), and I'm jealous of them because they have big salaries and are well-dressed. One of them even spent $15,000 just on his fancy clothes and invested some money in a luxury watch. Would you be interested in working in Geneva and making a lot of money there? Haha. But I really appreciate that you are a good teacher, taking care of the well-being of the students and helping them grasp concepts faster! πΌπ°
Oh, that's cool that you can jog with your dog; I didn't know that you had one. Despite having 4 cats and 3 dogs at home, my pets are so easy to run with me, so unlucky me. Do you mean to tell me explicitly that South Africa is not a safe country? In Switzerland, I don't have to complain about that; it's rather a calm and chill country, but in Geneva, a little too calm, there is no activity for young people, so yeah!!! What do young people usually do in SA? I assume there is a lot of partying!
I remembered that my mum used to not close the door of her car when she came back home, but one night someone opened the door and made a mess inside her car. Fortunately, nothing important was stolen, so next time she is more careful about that. When I was in Switzerland, I also had some issues with my car, and I had to do all the maintenance by myself; it was a stressful event, but at least it allowed me to understand how the mechanism of the different cars works.
So do you still have time to watch anime, or do you struggle to catch up with anime lately? Glad to hear that you love Frieren; unfortunately, I don't have time to watch much anime lately.
See you soon :) πΊπ
Yup, like I still haven't started some of the seasonal anime I wanted to watch as I've just been doing other stuff, like man idk why π I've just lost my ability to watch a ton of anime, i guess that's part of growing up?
Yup your name is amazing. I also really really love Weathering With You too.. I still need to watch suzume... I feel like that could become a favorite of mine too idk
Oh I see! But omg yeahhhhh I completely get you!!!! I also thought the same, that the anime was based on the manhwa, but it wasn't and i got confused? I think the wind breaker manhwa im thinking about is a more sporty/school one idk??? but no yeah same HAHAH. but I'm watching it anyway and it's honestly really fun.
I'm watching wind breaker, konosuba, mushoku tensei, kaiju no8, spice and wolf! my favorite out of the bunch is probably konosuba but kaiju is really really fun too. and I also plan on watching the new Demon Slayer and mha season when they air!!!
Yes it does take some dedication, thats one of the reasons why I dont drop, maybe it will get better coz a lot of shows were like this, their beginnings were awful but when I finished them I loved them
Its all fair honestly, I could say something else about it but I guess I will let you have your own choice lmao
I never actually drop shows at all so it usually stays at 0 for me , when I have to comment on anything I usually watch it entirely and then decide if its good or bad
also i should tell you steins gate is my favourite anime ever lol and I dont think you have understood is well enough, and I also dont get the reason of you dropping mob
i loved 3 days of happiness and I am glad you enjoyed it too, No I havent read One room of happiness and psychology is like my favourite genre so I can give it a try if you want :)
Very valid way to say that, some psychological shows get more gorey and dark lol, mysteries are always fun.
Omg yes!!!!! I just finished it last night and i loved it!!!! It was so much better than I expected!!!!!! the story and the writing was just such top tier!!!!! I was so close to rating it a 10 hahahaha. but yeah... amazing:)))
Nah same I've never gambled and I never plan to omg. I learned my lesson when I was a kid and at an arcade, I decided to gamble all of my tickets into a slot machine and I ended up losing all of it. 9 year old me was devastated.
agreed! I love spy x Family but there's only so much episodic episodes I can take, especially now that I find it hard to even watch one episode of an anime π
wait... let me check rn what movie it is your talking about. ohhhh I just checked it and it was the episode with the introduction of that new character! yeah I've watched it tho! I never really considered it a movie hahaha, more like a really long ova episode ?
Ohhh I see! Well my answer is kind of basic hahaha as I've literally not watched much anime movies at all, but I would say your name! if I'm allowed to say anime sequel movies, then I'd say gintama the final!!!! both of those movies I love!!!!!
I see!!! what anime are you watching in this new season?
Yes I love mysteries a lot actually, its like one of my favourite sub genres of my favourite genre that is Psychology, wbu ?
I actually haven't watched a movie in such a long time.... for the past few years ife mainly been watching movies only when I go to the cinema with friends or family, but I haven't gone in a while! the last movie I watched properly was like oppenheimer!
ohh I see! Well I hope to watch it sometime! I actually plan on watching Your lie in April.... In April lol. my friend really wants me to watch it and they said they'll even watch it with me so what better motivation is there? :))
LMAO noo problemmmmmm, I'll happily wait for u to finish Monster so I can hear your thoughts on it!!! mann, I'm excited to hear them though, Monster is always a show I love hearing people's opinions on!
Ohhhhh yeahhh casinos are crazy man.... I don't think I ever wanna go to one, I always hear stories of how people regret going to one LOL. have u ever spent a lot of money during a casino?
oh man, I havent read any manga or manhwa in like sooooo long now... like I'm about 20 chapters behind in most of my stuff I just can't find motivation to read anything ahhhhh but I need toooo
ohhhh I see.... I actually quite liked that episode tbh! but ig because the manga is more fast paced to read it might move quicker? idk! but I'm excited for the future regardless :)) I just want to see the two main characters find out who each other really are!
LMAOO, nooo I promise gintama has an amazing plot, its just a very unserious anime like the other 90% of the time! but yeah it's mainly comedy:))
Oh... I didn't even know dr stone had a movie wtf???? LMAOO, but yeah no, bunny girl senpais movie was actually so good ahhh. what's your favorite anime movie btw? like whether it's an anime original movie or part of a series?
Ninja kamui is still really really good even after like 5 or 6 episodes!
I'm really curious about what your job, so don't hesitate to tell me ! At least i hope that you are enjoying yours.
About mine, i would say i'm satisfied but that just exhausting, i basically work more than 40 hours per week. How much hours do you work per week ?
And thanks for your understanding !! I think i will be more available to have more conversation with you haha :)
Hey, thank you so much for the kind words! I really appreciate your support. It sounds like you tackled some challenging subjects in your exams. Accounting might be a breeze for you, but tax can be a tricky one. Fingers crossed everything balances out, and you get the results you're hoping for! In the meantime, try not to stress too much – you've done your best, and that's what matters. Let's catch up soon and celebrate once those results are in!
I never asked you but is there some public and private school in SA ? If so do you need to pay for your school or not reallty ?
Well i rarely hug people to be honest with you, i'm a man and i'm not a super tactile person to hug a girl i just know briefly. So instead i prefer to let them hug me first and i just follow the flow haha.
But yeah i usually check kiss even strangers at a party (mainly girls because it's rather a girl thing). Do you define yourself as a tactile person ?
Yeah that's so strange that when you get near exam period. We become extremely focused or concentrated on their exams and academic responsibilities to the extent that we may lose sight of other aspects of life temporarily. Do you eat a lot during period exam or not really ? What about your sleep during that period ?
Interesting that you start to learn french, that's cool ! What makes you start to learn french ? And don't worry i'm not gonna bombard you with a lot of french, i don't know your level ... Unless you want to start a little of french conversation with me hehe :p
In that sense, french people are also weird. They are known for being bad and hate english (we have a strong french accent) but when a foreigner speaks to us in french, we instantaly speak english to them.
For example, i have a classmate who is indian and he wants to practice french we use but we all speak to him in english, which is kinda annoying for him.
On the other hand, i work at CERN in an international environment, between french speakers we only speak french so other people can't understand us lol.
How would you describe living in SA ? Are they mean like french people in a way ? haha
It sounds like you have a busy and challenging schedule! Balancing work, studies, and personal goals can indeed be exhausting. Here are a few tips that might help you manage your routine better:
-Prioritize Tasks to ensure you're focusing on the most important things first.
-Break down your goals into smalle and more manageable tasks. This can make them less overwhelming and more achievable, even with a busy schedule.
- Allocate specific blocks of time to different activities, including work, study, and personal time.
-Ensure you're taking care of your physical and mental well-being. A healthy diet, regular exercise, and adequate sleep can contribute significantly to your overall energy levels.
-Be realistic about what you can achieve in a day. Setting overly ambitious goals can lead to burnout. Celebrate small victories and progress.
I guess that's the few tips i can give you lol. On the other hand, if you have some advice to be less stressed about life, i'l take it.
Ohh i'm the same, when i came back from works , i'm just tired but i have to do some cooking and cleaning before being able to relax.
It sounds like you have a demanding schedule with your work and master's program. Balancing responsibilities can be challenging, and it's understandable that you feel tired by the end of the day. Remember to prioritize self-care and rest whenever possible.
As for travel plans, i plan to go to Austria to visit one friend there and a little bit in Switzerland. Not sure yet about my plan but i'l tell you when it will be the case.
This week end i will do some ski with colleague.
Regarding fitness, it's great that you can relate! I live near the mountain so i have the opportunity to visit a little bit around.
Your perspective on resolutions is very reasonable. Life indeed throws unexpected challenges our way, and it's essential to be flexible and forgiving with ourselves. Setting realistic goals and celebrating small victories can contribute to a more positive and sustainable approach to personal growth.
It's interesting to hear about your background and career aspirations! It's great that you've found a field that aligns with your skills and interests. Accounting can offer a stable and rewarding career, especially if you have a natural affinity for numbers.
The fact that teaching is your passion is significant. Switching over to academia at some point could provide a fulfilling opportunity to share your knowledge and contribute to the education of others. Many academics find joy in not only conducting research but also in mentoring and teaching the next generation of professionals.
In what ways do you envision incorporating your passion for teaching into your career, either in the field of accounting or academia? Are there specific subjects or concepts you are excited about teaching?
It's valuable to have a long-term goal in mind, and pursuing academia could be a wonderful way to combine your expertise in accounting with your passion for teaching.
How do you envision making a positive impact through your work, either in accounting or academia? What are the values or principles that guide your professional journey?
Hmm to answer your question "What about minimum wage? I just can't understand how you cover living expenses? "
I don't know what i have said and it might have some confusion but i got paid every month. I live at the french border but i go to work in Switzerland every day by crossing the border. The advantage in France is that everything is cheaper than on the other side.
I can cover my expenses because i got help from french state , my scholar ship which reprensents both of them around 700 euros.
With my salary, i got approximately 5000 Swiss Francs per month which allows me to have some hobbies like going to ski or visit museum in Geneva.
have not been able to visit the city yet because i just settle but i'l show you some picture when it will be the case.
But just as a preview, here two pictures of the entrance of my workplace
Some monuments
Personally, i would be fine with two kids as well haha.
It's understandable that living in a big city may not be everyone's preference, and safety considerations are crucial factors in choosing a place to reside.
Given the safety considerations you mentioned, how has this influenced your daily routines or activities? Are there specific precautions you've adopted?
The high cost of education, particularly in the United States, is indeed a significant difference compared to some other countries where higher education is more subsidized. It's great that the cost of universities in your location is more accessible due to government subsidies.
In terms of people being an advantage, how does the sense of community in your area contribute to your overall well-being? Are there community events or traditions that you find particularly enriching?
The opportunity for international exposure, such as secondments during articles, can be valuable for personal and professional growth. It's interesting to see how different countries and industries incorporate global experiences into their training and development programs.
Ohh in France, there is nos studies about race distribution. It's something which is unethical and prohibited in order to avoid race discrimination.
The diversity in religion and the growing recognition of LGBTQ+ rights are significant and reflect the global trends in social awareness and acceptance.
It's interesting how your name has a connection to the word for "detour" in your home language. Names often have unique and sometimes amusing connections or meanings.
Same i haven't been able to watch Haikyu's movie yet but i think i will wait that the two episodes are out in order to bingewatch them.
What is your opinion about the movie ?
Lately, i started a lot of seasonal anime
Ohh i started to watch "A sign of affection" it's lovely I don't have to complain about the art style, i just love it but although the story looked promising at the beginning, over the episode I have the impression that it's running out of steam.
I read Apothecary Diaries as a manga and it's one of my favorite, just start the episode 1 a few days ago and plan to continue on it.
For classroom of the elite, as someone who read the light novel, i'm just amazed with the main character, he is kinda cool.
Frieren, as a manga reader, i didn't expect the fact that the anime will get so much success. So i'm glad that there is 28 episodes.
Solo levelling, i didn't expect nothing but got surprise by the animation and how the story is going on ( i already finished the webtton a while but i was expecting to be a flop and glad that was not the case)
And Mashle season 2, the openning is a banger !!
Have a good day and hope i can hear from you soon :)
