Hi, could you send me a link to a site where I can watch oishinbo?
TheCoolGuy82 Mar 12, 2022 10:11 PM
No, but i would like to. I don't know Where to start?

Sorry about that. I still have the video files saved on my laptop but I didn't want my channel to be filled with gameplay vids on a irregular basis. If I bring them back, it'll be on a game oriented channel. Perhaps as a let's play with commentary or live? I still haven't explored how to do to that nor do I have that much free time to play anything new.

Hello nice to meet you :D

I want to watch Jungle Taitei obviously because of Osamu Tezuka. And I am planning to watch most of his works and read some of his manga after my exam is over. I watch some scenes in Youtube, i think it looks Very good specially for the time. I wish i could've watch it in its original japanese, from what i heard the dub censors the deaths by stating that they are resting or sleeping. Other Than that i guess the dub is okay by 60s standards not like Speed Racer.

Around 40 episodes of 1989 is available in youtube with English subtitles. I heard it is very dark and almost goes unfaithful to source material and more or less similar to Ginga Negaroboshi Gin. But i am still gonna watch it regardless. I guess 1997 film would be a better replacement to Susume Leo since it also adapts 2nd half of manga albeit more faithfully.

What are your thoughts about the show so far? I am also interested in 1989 series & 1997 film. I always heard bad things about Susume Leo probably mostly due to English dub.
TheCoolGuy82 Oct 29, 2021 4:20 AM
So you watch it in english dub i guess probably the 1966 dub

Have you seen Jungle Taitei series completely. Is it English dub? Cause i can't find any the whole series japanese audio with english subtitles anywhere (except for ep 1).

Oh, Candy Candy, it was also brought to Finland during the VHS era, but in the end it didn't become as popular as Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin.

We don’t really even know why GNG eventually became so popular here, but we think it’s because that legendary and somewhat amusing Finnish dub (which was censored with many scenes, usually because of violence) was released many times on VHS tapes (at least in 1989, 1994, 1996 and 1998) and became really popular among children. Then in 2003 we finally got the uncut version as a DVD box with the original Japanese dub version and Finnish subtitles and in 2010 we finally got even the original manga series in Finnish.
Also the mangaka himself visited Finland TWICE! (but unfortunately I couldn't see him both times :/)

The reason has also been thought to be that because the theme of the series is bear hunting with dogs, which is very familiar to Finns, that's why we like the series so much.

Dragon Ball manga and anime have also been very popular here. At the beginning of the 2000s, Dragon Ball Z was even shown on television with an English dub and subtitles in Finnish and at the same time manga was translated and almost threatened to be banned in Finland altogether because of its blatant humor xD

Oh yes, another childhood classic! Moomins are so timeless. I really like that 90s anime version! :)
