Welcome to my profile! Football Enthusiast - Asian - Casual Anime Fan - Introverted Thinker I'm a user from Malaysia. I enjoy watching anime, but not a hardcore fan tho. My favourites include titles such as Fate/Zero and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I watch a variety of types of anime, from full-on action like Jujutsu Kaisen to CGDCT such as K-On! I got into anime in late 2018, by discovering shows such as Nanatsu no Taizai and No Game No Life. I have a huge passion for association football (soccer). I support Manchester United and my national team Malaysia. I don't watch much anime, as it's just one of my hobbies. That also explains why most anime I've watched are popular/mainstream shows. Favourite Anime 1. Fate/Zero 2. Clannad: After Story 3. Code Geass 4. Steins;Gate 5. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 7. Fruits Basket (Remake) 8. Oregairu 9. Hibike! Euphonium 10. Beelzebub 11. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun 12. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 13. Attack on Titan 14. Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan 15. Magi 16. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann 17. Violet Evergarden 18. Sousou no Frieren 19. Koe no Katachi 20. Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms 21. Mushoku Tensei 22. K-On! 23. Houseki no Kuni 24. Sakura-sou no Pet na Kanojo 25. Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon Favourite Characters Lelouch vi Britannia Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion The leading antihero and the main protagonist of the anime series Code Geass. Who doesn't know Lelouch? He's the most favourited character on MyAnimeList, and rightfully so. Lelouch was a highly intelligent boy, but not what you expected at first. He acts like a likable easy-going person. However, in reality, this is a mask to hide his true nature. He's the coolest fucking character in existence. Known for his realistic, cold, and tactical side, he has a huge sense of justice. He committed good and evil acts for his reasons, and that's what makes him such a well-written character. Despite being cold and ruthless, he didn't throw his humanity away, he can be a rather compassionate person at times, he views his friends as an ally and cares about them. Obey me subjects, Obey me world! All Hail Lelocuh "The only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed." Johnny Joestar JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 7: Steel Ball Run Johnny Joestar, a.k.a the best JoJo. The main protagonist of the widely praised manga JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 7. He was a horse-riding prodigy later who later turned into a cripple. Johnny joins the SBR race to find out the secret behind the Steel Balls. So what's so great about Johnny? His human characteristics and his character development throughout the series. Growing up, he had an aggressive relationship with his family that drove him to become the brat we know at the beginning of SBR. Johnny was always portrayed as the lesser son to his brother, he can never fill the role of his brother for his father. He had a tragic childhood, and the divide between him and his father climaxed to a point that hits Johnny hard. Through the journey, he grew and became the fan-favourite we know today. He's selfish, he's unforgiving and desperate, and even could've been seen as a "villain" by the end of the manga. He felt like a real character to me. "I want to get up to zero! If I can get the corpse, I can get my negative back to zero!" Yukinoshita Yukino Oregairu Yukinoshita Yukino, a.k.a Yukinon, or the best girl of the series. She is the deuteragonist of Oregairu. She is smart, and beautiful, and is nicknamed the "Ice-cold Beauty" for her icy demeanor. She is the definition of a thinking type, a person who believes in logic first and foremost. And because of her personality, she tends to be blunt and point out faults in other people without consideration. Despite that, she still attempts to understand others and is kind in her way. Her icy exterior slowly fades throughout the series, making her more "humanlike". She isn't selfish despite her logical side. She's more selfless than anyone and has a genuinely good heart, willing to help anyone in need. Last but not least, she's a waifu material. "People who don't work hard don't have the right to be envious of the people with talent. People fail because they don't understand the hard work necessary to be successful." Gilgamesh (Caster) Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia "You know that one meme 'Is this some peasant joke I'm too rich to understand?'. Imagine if that meme was reincarnated as a person" - Gigguk No, we're not talking about that Gilgamesh, we're talking about his alternative version, we're talking about Caster Gilgamesh here. He's the king of Uruk, an ancient Sumerian city. As a Caster, Gilgamesh has a more mature mindset, he comes from after his journey to find immortality. Caster Gilgamesh is such a likeable character, he loves his city, and he genuinely wants to protect his people, by being such a wise and mature king. Unlike his Archer counterpart who's full of arrogance, he's a responsible king who properly serves the people he rules. Have we talked about his powers yet? He has his Gate of Babylon, which is the storehouse that Gilgamesh built to store all the world's treasures he claimed in life. In this version, he's no longer in his prime, unlike his counterpart. He lost a lot of offensive power, he distributed all his weapons except for the staffs to the people in Uruk. He mainly bombards spells instead of spam-firing his swords and spears, which is kinda cool. I mean, who doesn't like a wise and powerful king like Gilgamesh. "It's a hundred years too early to take a rest. Do not bore me, mongrel." Misaka Mikoto Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Oh look, it's the girl in my profile picture! Misaka Mikoto, a.k.a Railgun is the main protagonist of the Railgun series and the second main heroine of the Raildex series. She is the third-ranked Level 5 esper in Academy City and the strongest Electromaster in the city. She is fucking cool, yet charming because of her well-known tsundere personality. She is short-tempered, prideful, and has an improper attitude. Despite all that, she is generally friendly and easygoing, making her the best tsundere who ever exist. While generally amicable and humble, Misaka is highly individualistic. She has a keen sense of justice and naturally acts as a leader. Yet because of that, she cannot avoid making more enemies at the same time. During a fight, she's badass. Outside a fight, she's cute. That's why I love her. Fun Fact: The 3rd most visited Chinese website, Bilibili is named after Misaka Mikoto "I just don’t have any patience for people who would rather hurt others instead of facing their own reality." Roxy Migurdia Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Happy Roxy Day, everyone! And yes, tomorrow is Roxy day as well, and so was yesterday. - Echidnut Roxy is a talented mage who mainly uses water magic. Roxy is much more than a talented mage. She deserved to be worshipped by everyone. I'm here to convert you to Roxism. If you're reading this right now, you should turn off your device and worship Roxy. Before you say anything, hear me out. Despite her look, she's about 50 years old, so shut up. She is also known as the Goddess of Wisdom because she enjoys learning and enjoys teaching. That's better than your waifu. Unfortunately, she didn't get the screen time she deserved. But hey, there's always another season of Mushoku Tensei. I was an atheist before but Goddess Roxy enlightened me, I can't stop simping for Roxy. "If everyone converts to Roxism, we would achieve world peace." Hori Kyouko Horimiya Hori Kyouko is the deuteragonist of Horimiya. She is a smart, energetic, and popular person who always creates a happy atmosphere around herself. She is a hard worker in all aspects of her life, and even though she has chores around her house to do, she does well in school and scores over 90 on exams. She is also a responsible older sister who takes care of her brother well. She tends to be violent when she is nervous or angry, which makes her much more realistic as a character. I like how casual Hori is when she's not with her friends, it's very refreshing to see characters being casual like people do in real life. Even though she is a popular person, she is also shown to be very jealous at times when girls are flirting, to the point that she scares girls away from her boyfriend. I mean, she's beautiful, smart, energetic, responsible, and sometimes violent. She ticks all my "ideal girlfriend characteristic features". Hori is the ideal in real life-girlfriend. But except, she doesn't exist. "I’m asking you guys are done talking. If you are, then piss off Assholes." Ishigami Yuu Kaguya-sama: Love is War Treasurer of everyone's favourite student council, Ishigami Yuu is undoubtedly one of if not the best-written character in Kaguya-sama: Love is War. Relatable, Self-insertable, Realistic. These are what made him the stand-out character that he is. But what makes it beautiful about him is his character growth, his story and the way he presents himself in the story. He had fantastic character development throughout the series while still being extremely hilarious. If you relate to him, you'll love him, a lot. "Shut up, dumbass." Victorique de Blois Gosick "In a tall tower deep in a forest, a golden fairy lived there alone. A certain young gray wolf girl who reminds a golden fairy, but who cannot possibly love anyone." She is Victorique "Vikutorika", "Gray Wolf" de Blois, the deuteragonist of the hidden gem "Gosick", who is known for her tsundere personality and loli physique. Possesses a supernatural ability to observe and analyze pieces of information, and she can perform deep calculations to solve any puzzles and problems thrown upon her. She's known to solve any murder cases easily without assistance or aid. Classic tsundere with a sharp tongue, a sarcastic and eccentric personality, Victorique is a tsundere done right. As cold-hearted as sometimes she can be, she's still able to show a more sincere and precious side of emotions. A tsundere done right, that's all I have to say "You were chosen as a single fragment with which I will fill up my boredom." Favourite Manga 20th Century Boys Favourite Characters: Friend, Kenji, Otcho What if you could make your childhood fantasy real, and terrifying? What if the Illuminati was real? This is it. 20th Century Boys by Urasawa Naoki is my favourite manga of all time. It's a mystery. The whole manga is a mystery, and it keeps getting deeper and deeper. As you read through, you'll find yourself staring into an abyss. You will never grasp how deep it goes. Who is Friend? Why is Friend? How far does it go? When does it end? Urasawa Naoki is such a genius at writing characters. From the main protagonist to the main antagonist and even to the side characters. This manga is brilliant. It is so unique and interesting, and once you get hooked, you'll never stop reading it. Despite many flaws that I found, it's still by far my favourite manga I've read. It has a phenomenal structure, and an amazing connection that connects the past, the present, and the future. A must-read for everyone. Story: A+ Art: A- Characters: A+ Enjoyment: A+ Overall: A+ JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 7: Steel Ball Run Favourite Arcs: D4C, Break My Heart, Break Your Heart Ranked #2 in the MyAnimeList database, the 7th installment of the iconic JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series by Araki Hirohiko, JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 7: Steel Ball Run is my 2nd favourite manga of all time. The innovative fights, crazy-like abilities, the lovable characters, and the mysterious plot behind all of these led to an amazing manga that is set to win the race. With the magnificently written story, the detailed unique looking art, and the well-explored characters, this manga truly blew me in every way, Part 7 of JoJo's is the epitome of any manga. From having one of the best protagonists to one of the best villains of all entertainment media I have enjoyed. From the amazing dynamic duo of Johnny and Gyro to the thrilling epic finale of Johnny vs Funny Valentine, I could only describe it as a work of art, truly deserving the title of a masterpiece. Story: A- Art: A+ Characters: A+ Enjoyment: A+ Overall: A+ Kaguya-sama: Love is War Favourite Arcs: Sports Festival, Dual Confessions Culture Festival, New Game, ABCs of men and women Kaguya-sama: Love is War by Akasaka Aka is my favourite romance story. Known as the king of romance manga, Kaguya-sama is undoubtedly the best romance I've ever seen. It's like the opposite of your average everyday romcom, it's taking the mockery of them at some points. This manga is absurd, the super-exaggerated characters take the cake of any comedy. No rom-com has ever made me burst into laughter other than this masterpiece. Over the last 28 volumes, I've read, I've been through laughter, been through fluffy happiness, empathy, and melancholy. Emotional arcs, thrilling arcs, comedic arcs, it's all in one package. It's an emotional ride that everyone should experience. Characters are easily the finest point of the series. Everyone from the series could've easily broken into my top 10 favourite characters. That's how well they're written. As perfect as it may be, the last quarter of the manga didn't live up to the level it used to be. Still, a solid ending to end it off! Story: A Art: A- Characters: A+ Enjoyment: A+ Overall: A Horimiya Favourite Chapter: Chapter 35, Chapter 81 Horimya by HERO x Hagiwara Daisuke is my 4th favourite manga of all time. Pretty sure you all heard of this amazing high school romance manga. It isn't anything mindblowing, it's a simple, casual manga that everyone can enjoy. It isn't anything complex, it isn't anything dramatic or over the top, and that's what I really love about it. Well yes, the story peaked around the first half of the manga and afterwards is just fillers. But do bear in mind that this is a slice-of-life manga, don't view it as a romance drama like your average K-Drama. The characters are very lovable, especially the side characters, it's very rare to see well-developed characters when the main couple are the main stars. The series is a must-read for every type of romance fan. It's interesting to see how fast generational differences are emerging these days compared to even a decade or so ago - you mention the Golden Age of the Internet of around 2020, and for me personally that Golden Age is around 2012-2015, so I suppose most of it is just what we grew up through adolescence with. :) The shocking rate of technological and cultural change is insane, in retrospect. I wonder how those sorts of things will be in just a few more years..
And yes of course! Hope you may enjoy some day :) ALSO, it appears Clannad is on sale for 65% off right now - hopefully that isn't a regional thing? Maybe you could take advantage of that if you so wished. :)
I've personally enjoyed taking it back to anime from that time period - for whatever reason I really love media from that time period, whether it be anime, movies, or music. A personal theory I have is that it was the 'golden age' where the Internet allowed for the mass proliferation of sharing and ideas, and was still young enough to be viewed as a hobby and not as a means to an end - that end being profit... May'be I'm just a bit old, who knows. But it feels like media used to have far more soul.
In truth, I haven't played many VNs at all! Really just Katawa Shoujo (which I would heartily recommend), Clannad, and Doki Doki Literature Club. A few others, but nothing that sticks out compared to those. Doki Doki is only a few hours, maybe 3 or 4 tops? A blind playthrough of Katawa Shoujo will take you about 5-6 hours to complete a route but it's worth it - I played my first route in a single night and loved it ever since (Hanako best girl). Oh goodness, maybe it's the booze I'm drinking but I'm heartily feeling a Katawa Shoujo run RIGHT NOW... I'm such a bad influence, teehee. But really I think it's worth the slightly longer playtime to play Katawa Shoujo!!! Here's a link. :)
https://www.katawa-shoujo.com/download.php
The few VNs I've experienced have either been free downloads or via Steam, correct. If you search up Katawa Shoujo a free link is simple to find, for instance. Others I'm not well versed in, but perhaps that's tomorrow's endeavor.
I'm roughly 3/4 through Kanon - compared to Clannad/AS it can't compare too much, sure, but it's worth watching regardless IMO. Good stuff thus far! You really do notice parallels when it comes to their writing styles and choices.
ain't no way you're watching 1700+ episode of Doraemon from the start
I am collecting the DVDs... for my cat
I have played Clannad, yes! It's how I first got into the series and chose to watch the anime afterward, mostly because I heard the After Story takes your breath away. In fact, I decided to start Kanon largely because if I finish that then After Story it will make After Story my 100th completed anime on the site. :) it's not the worst price when on sale, but all I can say is that God for YouTube playlists ;)
This is just me personally, and I was probably in some sort of weird daze playing through it, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the Tomoyo VN route. Large parts of it simply felt too forced or cliche to me. That being said, her route is commonly cited as a favorite far more than my favorites, so take that as you will. Probably just personal differences! It's not written badly by any means, just not for me!
I've been wondering how I'll even get around to being able to play the Kanon VN, really. It seems hard to find online thus far, but I probably just haven't dug deep enough. But I've enjoyed the anime thus far! It had a similar bit like Clannad where I thought it really warmed up after the first half dozen or so episodes, presumably when they switch from a common route to the more specialized ones.
And yea I thought the same thing on 3-1! Shame she's gone so soon :( she gets plenty of time during spinoffs like Danganronpa S, but that's mostly fanservice anyway :( thankful for it, but knowing what I know about it now I probably woulda just watched all the interactions on YouTube or something.
After starting Kanon I'm almost wondering if it would be for the best to read the VN first, too. When I did that with Clannad I really enjoyed the mixing of the routes and seeing what was new, what was adapted to the anime, and really just seeing it all animated at all. Felt like an extra little 'goodie basket' for these characters I've really enjoyed over that longer VN playtime. But I still preferred the VN since you got to dig into the story way more - though, I did recently watch the Tomoyo OVA for Clannad and for whatever reason I was able to appreciate the story so much more in that medium than the VN... sorry for rambling, LOL. I guess I'll just watch Kanon, play the VN, then see which order I really like better in retrospect!
The moment they drop the victim of 2-5 is just, insane. Like I saw a meme about that moment years later and instantly thought of them, and I scrolled down to the comments and the most liked comment just said their name. There was literally no danganronpa context at all, but wow is it all so memorable. I often wonder what it would have been like to have both the victim and the 'killer' in the final chapter.
I think I'm noticing what you mean by KyoAni's charm - I just started Kanon (2006) at someone's recommendation and it has that same appeal that really drew me into Clannad. I look forward to checking out more of their stuff!
2-5 was absolutely bonkers, man. How they used Nagito's luck like that - I swear I felt like I saw it coming but holy crap. And I really loved how 2-4 inverted the typical murder motivation as well. It really was a solid pair of cases. Which I think was needed after 2-3.. it's like I get it, and I appreciate how it did shed light on how they really were the Remnants of Despair, but it still felt weird to change characters like that. Some things felt especially forced - like the minute Ibuki started acting weird I knew she was toast :( But that's just Danganronpa in general, really. Fun and suspenseful albeit somewhat predictable.
I should really get more into the people that produce more, I feel like it's a good way to connect medias and find new stuff to watch too!
Any favorite or particularly disliked trials?
Yeah I thought the Nier Automata anime was neat! Highlighted lots of story for 2B that we didn't see in the game. I mostly have him faved for his part in the Nier games - I loved them!!! I felt strongly about and related to the themes of purpose that it presented.
Otherwise, I have no idea who to pick for favorite people, I never tend to dig that much into the production side of things. I'm a simply fellow, unfortunately. :p
